There was a protest around a video game involving Middle Eastern terrorist organisations as art, and the police used the fire code as an excuse to bust the protest. This is why I'm talking about execution, because as much as you can regulate or ban until you're blue in the face, nothing will happen with it unless either lives are taken or it works to the government's advantage. If you look at the emergency telephones along I-87 in Essex County that broke because of Y2K, it's the same thing.

So police shut down something for failing to meet fire codes...and that's an example of the code enforcement not working?

You're telling me what we need. I'm telling you what we have. As is typical, once someone questions you on the execution of your ideas, it means that the person is against what you think they believe to be a cockamamie idea. Unless you plan on getting the government to get some of these people who are receiving welfare checks to maybe help out with this enforcement (and BTW, you STILL haven't answered my question about what those getting stuff from the government should have to give in return for services, yet you have enough time to have this argument with me), you don't have the resources available. Find something to trade off.

Flag reminds me of Homer Simpson! Remember the episode where Lisa was trying to get on TV by opposing a random question on the ballot, and the one she chose turned out to be a referendum to give free bus vouchers to war widows. When Kent Brockman introduces Lisa on TV, Homer grumbles..."stupid mooching war widows". :D

I don't, but then I doubt any news source would mention it anyway...you have to assume they'll seek one though, especially since it contradicts about 100 years of precedents.

I just think it's irresponsible for them to move forward (as silly as it sounds) with their normal business. I don't know if the feds fund the NLRB, but whomever funds them is going to have to pay for all the lawyers that file suit over any decisions made if the SCotUS upholds the appeals court or doesn't grant a stay.

I don't think it's smart to shut down the NLRB in the mean time but it's equally irresponsible to move forward opening the whole process up to litigation.

there is a very easy solution at hand, Oblamer just has to submit nominees to the Senate for confirmation under the normal course of business.



It's pretty clear that all NLRB rulings made when they lack a bona fide quorum will be voided. Why would they want to put everyone through all the extra mess and bother?

there are plenty of people who are not affiliated with either political party in any way who are quite impatient with Obama's demonstrated immaturity as a person. Recognizing the obvious and being independent are not mutually exclusive.

For anyone who purports to be a leader at any level to respond to criticism by saying "it's not my fault" is a sign of immaturity. No one cares whose "fault" it is. What people care about is how you are going to respond.

To respond by saying "everything the other side says or does is just wrong" is immature as well. He is supposed to be President of the United States, not Castigator-in-Chief.

The fact that you so blindly and ardently defend him about everything at every turn, no matter how bombastic and, well, "self-contradictory" he is, calls your judgment into question.

What makes it so difficult for you to recognize the obvious? Even if you like his policies you can dislike how he goes about trying to implement them.

At least you aren't as gonzo as Rover, he acts as if this is all WWE or MMA, pure entertainment. I've never seen anyone so proud about their total lack of empathy.

However I'll be happy to address your topic. You seem to think I hate Republicans or conservatives. Not true. I hate knuckledraggers. These people (epitomized in Congress by the Bachmann's of the world) can't be reasoned with. They don't want to be reasoned with. They will take unreasonable positions in order to get themselves on TV and maybe work a deal to head up a foundation (Jim DeMint) or a gig on Fox Cable (Palin) without a care if this is harmful to the country or not.

Now, all of this wouldn't matter if it was one person or two, but over half the GOP caucus in the House and Senate is this way, so they must be crushed for the good of the country. Then maybe these so called traditional conservatives will re-assert themselves if they in fact still exist. The lamestream media won't do it because they're too interested in "fairness" so they won't call out ridiculous positions. That in turn encourages knuckledraggers to take bizzare positions on issues because they don't feel they'll ever get called on it.

So, its my job as head of Rover Nation to do just that. Wherever I see such idiocy, be it out here, in a bar, in a newspaper, etc I'll call it out. In case you haven't noticed, there's a whole movement of us doing this, which is why so called "dog whistle politics" doesn't work anymore. That's the new reality, because as I've said before, we Dems/libs/progressives/whatever are playing to win. With gun control, immigration reform and tax hikes on rich/military cuts are being enacted or coming down the pike, seems like we're doing our jobs.

You're digging yourself into a hole here. Many of the left-wing positions are unreasonable from a standpoint that they are impossible to execute and achieve your goals, not to mention any side-effect harm that is given to the country. Whenever you happen to present a position, I challenge you on a standpoint of execution, and several others challenge you in terms of side effects. You can talk the talk as much as you want with what you spew, but be prepared to walk the walk.

I'm not interested in every left wing position in the world. I'm more than happy to defend my own ideas however. In fact I already said in detail (to pirate maybe) about how I'd balance the budget and I've detailed a plan for what I think is a big winner - energy independence. If there's one thing I'm not, its shy. :D

I'm happy to see that you are proactive with coming up with budget cuts. We need to ensure that we aren't tacking on new spending at the same time, though, otherwise you're defeating the purpose of what you're doing.

So how does that make them anything other than your doppelganger? you've bragged many times about how proud you are to be equally unreasonable ("hatchet man" is a term you used to describe yourself, no?).

it is quite rare that you ever respond to a reasonable comment in a reasonable manner. if you disagree with something someone said, your typical tactic is to call them names and ridicule them....exactly the same thing you say the other side does. It is quite rare that you ever address the substance of another person's comments.

For example, I said it is "immature" for any leader to complain that a problem is "not his fault." You gloss over that entirely without any response whatsoever. to me, that is a tacit acknowledgement on your part that you do in fact agree but are unwilling (or more likely, unable) to admit it. You seem to care little about right or wrong, effective or ineffective, healthy or unhealthy, it is all about sliming the other "side" and creating distraction so people don't notice the drawbacks of your "side."

Obama says one thing one day, he contradicts himself the next day, you don't care, no matter what he says or does, you will mindlessly defend him. When I criticize him, I provide reason and evidence for it. I'm not always down on everything he does, on those rare occasions when he's said or done something sensible, I'll acknowledge it. it is the course of action that matters.

I'm not on anyone's "side."
