The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Or the Catholic Church, by that logic. Just saying...

No, because they are guided by the Holy Spirit which is inerrant.

Pope Leo XIII in his 1893 encyclical Providentissimus Deus explained:

o far is it from being possible that any error can coexist with inspiration, that inspiration not only is essentially incompatible with error, but excludes and rejects it as absolutely and necessarily as it is impossible that God Himself, the supreme Truth, can utter that which is not true. This is the ancient and unchanging faith of the Church (II, D, 2, a, emphasis added).

Mother Church has been working this stuff since 400 AD. You may not like the answer, but trust me they have an answer for everything. :D

I'm not sure "extremely careless" is any sort of legal term or standard. Someone else may know. I think it was just the harshest term the Director could think of short of saying her actions were criminal.

It sounded more to me like Director Comey said "even though technically her actions could be considered 'criminal' there is no point in referring the case to the DOJ because 'no reasonable prosecutor [in the Obama administration]' ever would press charges."

He also said that "people who acted that way would face administrative sanctions" which is a code word for saying "were she still Secretary of State then she'd be in deep trouble, but since she is no longer Secretary of State then she's off the hook."

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Extremely careless is not a legal term.

Putting your makeup on in the car while eating a breakfast burrito is extremely careless, but unless you get into a wreck, you're probably not getting ticketed or charged with anything.

On the other hand, if you are extremely careless and do cause a wreck, would any judge and jury accept as a defense, "well, I did not intend to cause a wreck by my carelessness." ??

For what it's worth, I do think Comey made the right play here. I agree with him entirely, there was absolutely no point in recommending a referral to the DOJ.

Given how many laws and regulations say that you are guilty even if you are not even aware that a law exists, there seems to be some disparity here in how other people are treated. If "lack of intent" is an acceptable defense here, then it also should be an acceptable defense in many other areas too, yet it is not.

What else do the voices in your head tell you? Are they friends with Flaggy's?

When you quote the derp my Ignore of the derp don't work.

Friends don't let friends quote the derp.

If Fishy and Flaggy aren't in a relationship already, they need to be. :D

Republicans have to be the stupidest people on God's green Earth. They can't even run a kangaroo court properly. Have you ever seen people get made to look like idiots more often in their own hearings?

This reminds me of the Trey Gowdy debacle. If I'm setting any of these inquisitions up, I have a couple of bomb throwing there to stoke conspiracy theories, but I also have a couple of level headed polite moderates to ask tough but fair questions and give the proceedings an air of respectability. Something the "both sides do it" crowd can latch onto in the media. Instead people like Howdy Doody Gowdy and now this Chaffetz moron stack the panel with lunatics, then wonder why it blows up in their faces.

One guy (Mica) is insinuating Comey coordinated his press conference with Obama's campaign appearance with Clinton. Comey rightfully asked him to look him in the eye and say he didn't think the FBI director was corrupt. Mica ended his questioning and scurried away. Pathetic.

It's true. If you're going to mount a show trial at least get the right verdict.

So....who couldn't have seen from outer space that this hearing was going to be a disaster? You have marginally functional knuckledraggers on House committee trying to accuse a lifelong GOP law enforcement official of engaging in a conspiracy to defend Hillary Clinton? Ooookaaayyyyy. Nobody could have expected anything over the top to be said out of that crew...

Chaffetz who I think heads the committee tripped up Comey on a question he had. It appears to me that the Republicans had put all their eggs in this indictment basket. Chaffetz argument was that Hillary Clinton KNEW there was classified information on the server and knowingly provided access to that information to people without security clearance. In a bubble that's a pretty good argument. But, given the classified emails that were found were so small and none of them were labeled classified in the header I don't know how he can make that leap.

Chaffetz went all in though and got Comey stuttering around and that's going to be an embarrassment to him in the long run.

And when Hillary gets elected President they're going to use the fact that she couldn't get security clearance in any government agency as a private citizen applying for a government job and/or contract as a spear her entire Presidency. They will treat her as illegitimate as they have Obama for his entire 2 terms.

In the Republican mind, no president with a (D) after their name is legitimate. That's Saint Ronnie's house, you get out of there you dirty rotten commie! What? Mommy, they said Saint Ronnie's dead?! WAHHHHHHH!!!!!

And Mommy (the Echo Chamber) coos, "don't you worry, Saint Ronnie's not dead. That's just another liberal lie like climate change or evolution or cigarettes causing cancer. Here, have a pack of Marlboros and toddle off to bed now."

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

And if they do that Scooby they will fall even further behind. They are so irrelevant they had 20 people run for the POTUS and the only candidate with traction was Donald *** Drumpf. If they spend 8 years going after Hillary like they did Obama they will put up Romney Electoral numbers for the next 20 years.

Even the dumbest of the dumb dont fall for "WOLF!!!!" until the end...sooner or later they get bored.

Well, I'd like to believe they'd learn but today's hearing proves otherwise.

They're already declassifying her.

House Speaker Paul Ryan says Hillary Clinton can’t be trusted with classified information and is formally asking federal intelligence officials to deny the former secretary of State briefings during the fall campaign, a typical practice for both party’s nominees.

In a letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper dated Wednesday and released on Thursday, Ryan wrote that the FBI’s admonishment of Clinton this week over her lax email practices as secretary of state needs to carry repercussions.

And this is Paul Ryan. The guy every Republican thinks is sane.

Which would matter if anybody outside of Beltway pundits and supposed liberals with a Scott Walker obsession took the House GOP seriously. Suffice to day, nobody else does.

GOP looks like idiots. Paul Ryan surprisingly got asked if he thinks Trump should keep security clearance and with a straight face had to answer yes. A smarter politician never would have put himself in that position.

They're idiots with a majority. People voted for them. Hell, people voted for Ryan on a Presidential ticket. There are PLENTY of people that take them seriously.

And they're dying off by the day. After Hillary crushes Trump, Dems would won 5 out of 7 and outvoted Goopers in 6 out of 7 which hasn't happened EVER. Even FDR-Truman only rattled off 5 out of 7 (but 5 for 5 for those two). For the Senate from 2007-2019 given the inevitable Dem takeover Dems would have held Senate for 10 out of 12 years. The GOP's saving grace is mid-term elections where old white people make up a disproportionate amount of the electorate. That can't hold much longer.

Yeah, it can't hold. I've had 16 years of **** because of Bush and the inability of Obama being able to do what he needed to do. All they need is their Gerrmandered House to hold and it will continue another 8 years under Clinton. By then I'll be so close to retirement it won't matter anymore.

Watching that hearing today and the Benghazi hearing has been very eye opening.

Hey they can choose not to learn and keep up the witch hunts...they will just be the beggers to their own demise.
