The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Well, We're gold blooded, check it and see
Haven't a game since Two Thousand and Three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
We're gold blooded, We're gold blooded

Personally, if they were going to go with this one, I think it would make for a better theme of it all if the shirt itself was at least something close to being a shade of Yellow that could be called Gold.

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Those shirt designs are just awful. Is someone actually getting paid to design them or is that something students came up with in a contest? Maybe it's time for the school to invest in someone skilled in jersey/logo design who can create some decent work. Just look at how many times the hockey jerseys have been redesigned from the late 80's to now. You shouldn't need a complete redesign every 3 years or so. Go back to the jersey's of the 60's and 70's please. They're simple, yet effective.

Why do I have this feeling, given the choices and the minds of some internet regulars, that Gold Blooded will come in last?!

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

The only one out of any of those shirts that I would even remotely consider wearing is the gold blooded one, because that Husky is actually pretty awesome.

[Insert obligatory "Girls?" comment here]

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Tech fans,
Do you think a large number of freshman will earn regular spots this year. Will they push players like MaCleod and Witt to the bench and keep Lickteig, Reddick, and Heinonen on the bench. I think Sova and Stebner will be a pair on D.

Daniel Holmberg,
Ryan Furne,
Blake Hietala,
Patrick McCadden,
Tyler Gubb,
Dennis Rix,
Daniel Sova,
Brad Stebner,
Jacob Johnstone

How does this lineup look

F
Baker Olson Furne
Royer Rix Holmberg
Pietila Kattelus Gordic
Gubb Johnstone Schooley

D
Cousens Seigo
Nielsen Brown
Stebner Sova
Doriott

I hope the team plays hard, competes, and gets the players capable of putting up points into the lineup. Take care of your own end first and pressure the other teams.

Two lines full of 4 year letter winners with 10 career points has got to stop....

We'll see what happens this year. W's should be the only focus this year.

I am intrigued to see how the team starts this year.

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

I can say with 90% certainty that Rix, Furne, and Sova will all push for and earn significant playing time, with the caveat that they stay healthy.

As for the rest of the team, I think you can pretty much draw from a hat. Unless Brown's puck-moving skills come alive, I see him as a regular scratch. He's just too small to be playing defense in the WCHA, unless he can help put up a significant number of points. He only got the playing time that he did last year because of injuries.

I see Dorito and Stebner rotating in and out of the third pair a lot, depending on who's in the "Dumb Penalty Doghouse" at the moment. Sova could be joining that group from time to time, as I understand he plays a rough and occasionally dirty game. Heinonen...is possibly the next Kivisto - the walk-on who will quietly earn more playing time than we think, depending on how things go with the rest of the d core.

I seriously glanced at this part of the post and thought you were grading our players. hahaha.

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

So, I noticed in your previous thread (before it finally died) that there was speculation that Peter Rohn has left for a D3 school in the midwest. We already know that Seth Soley has gone to St. Norbert College, but is there any word about where Rohn is going? Just curious...

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Since it was rumored, I've been keeping my eyes peeled as to where he ends up, but I haven't heard/read anything yet.
