Looking more carefully at the box score, we actually did hang with them until the third period, when D. Olver decided to show up (go figure).

Score is 1-2 after 1 period, FYI. Pietila with our only goal so far. They will start the 2nd with almost a full 2 minutes on the PK.

The game is basically done. Tech loses 5-2. Highlights of the game:


  • Schooley played an amazing game.
  • Neilson absolutely owned an even bigger Augs player in a nice long fight.
  • It was 2-2 after 2 periods and Tech was looking like the better team. It just fell apart when ex-eNeMaU Olver started owning in the third period.
  • It sounds like Pete Heinonen got some palying time.

Sifting through the (poorly translated) German commentary, I was also under the impression that Cramer looked a lot more like a third-stringer on the third and fourth Augsburger goals. For instance, on the game-winning goal they seemed to indicate that he pulled a Turco and slid into the net with the puck under his pads. What was Dirk saying on the radio?

More importantly, Kivisto's MVP thingy appears to be a bottle of liquor? :D

We do win the Ramada Cup every now and then. It is just odd that when we win it, the Cup isn't being presented. Odd...
