Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Blake James contract was renewed........was THAT the "big news"?

This is truly mind boggling. How could such an inept and incompetent administrator be rewarded with an extension of his contract? He has mishandled so many personnel issues within the department over the last two years and alienated so many friends and alumni of the University. The collapse of the Hockey program is only one of many issues he has failed to address in a prompt and judicious manner. Obviously, the President of the University sees it much differently.

The President appears to be as much of a dooshbag as James is.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Heard an advertisement tonight on 97.1 that Oliver Wahlstrom will be at the game on Sunday to provide some entertainment during an intermission. For those not familiar this is the 9yr old who made the sick shot in a mini-one-on-one on NESN.

A once storied program and rivalry has come to this to put warm bodies in the stands & generate revenue....how sad.:o

My thoughts exactly. I heard the ad and thought "We can't fill the seats against BU, so we have to try to convince people to come because some 9-year-old trick-shooter will be on the ice for 10 minutes?

He is the son of a hockey alum

***....how do they keep clowns like that on the job? You might as well just put out a we hire mental midgets and dimwits sign to run our department.....no accountability or business acumen needed to work here...just look dumb and act dumb.....
Did anybody see timmay's quotes about we need to establish Maine as a national prominent program???? yeah thanks to his ineptness he has brought it to the level of looking up at Merrimack/PC!!! UM is screwed.....Blake will re-new timid timmay and they will totally destroy atheletic dept and hockey program. Unbelievable!!! Thank good for SEC football.....

The Learfield Sports deal must be incredibly profitable for the school.

I think its quite obvious kennedy could give a **** less about the athletic department and doesn't want to put them time and effort into finding a replacement. Why else would you renew him? The whole thing is pretty ridiculous.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Although, unlike most of you, I do think Whitehead has the ability to turn the team around when it comes to coaching, this is a ridiculous business decision. Blake James just publicly applied for a job in Florida to get out of here.. and he didn't get it. This is a slap in the face to donors and followers of all Maine sports, especially the hockey program.

The fact that the University isn't willing to make ANY changes to turn things around, not even looking for an AD who WANTS to be here is pathetic.

Heres to hoping Corkum keeps bringing in Adam Shemankys and that Timmay finds more Nyquists in Sweden because it looks like those are our best hopes right now.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

James just got renewed by the d-bag Kennedy who himself was looking to abandon ship to Kansas last year. UMaine is being poisoned right now........maybe it is up to the Board of Trustees to do something.

Now why would we need to do that? Maine was a national prominent program, what happened? :p

as long as there is no mention of profit sharing or listenership in the contract.

Once Learfield took over, the numbers of listeners dwindled significantly, which means ad revenue tanked as well.

huh, treat Maine like a big city and all business and not like a small community, and things all go to hel1, who wouldda thunk it

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Very disappointed in President Kennedy. It really makes you wonder what this guy is looking at, if he's paying attention. There are really only two possibilities here: Either Kennedy is just as clueless as James appears to be, or the stories about James' mircomanaging and how much most "insiders" and donors dislike him that are alluded to here are crap.

Think about it. Money talks, it talks at every major state university in the country. Solich, Zook, Gillespie...when you anger the donors, if you're winning or losing, you're gone. What gives?

As I understand the Learfield deal, the school gets paid no matter how many people listen. Getting listeners and selling ads are Learfield's problem - and they take whatever profits there are.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Isn't Chief Wahoo the same guy that said that TIMMAY was going to be hired as the next head coach at Hamilton College? I think that he got in trouble for that one because he posted it in his blog but also writes for a newspaper.......lol.

*yawn*

No ChiefWahoo is not Mike McMahon. :D

I said Maine was going to be losing something. And based on today's news about Blake James it looks like you are going to be losing your minds. :D

The President is a micro-manager. He has James under his thumb and is a known quantity to him. In addition, the budget situation is so bad, he is probably looking for a way out and can't be bothered by looking for a replacement AD. I bet he wishes he were in Kansas, now.

WZON was going to give the U money no matter what, learfield was going give the U nothing until they made money.

A very discouraging turn of events, for sure...I wanted to flush out the whole AD regime, aside from Corkum and maybe the women's poker team.

Then again,I just watched Minnesota fall to 2-5 or something like that...Is Lucia on the way out, too,I wonder?Or is it just all the rage to trash out your school's flagship program?

I say offer Timmy $7K per win, take it or leave it.Who TF else doesn't get paid for performance,in the real world?

Well the sad part is we are stuck now with this A.D. and that is bad news....but no matter who is the A.D. the writing is there....clean out Whitehead at the end of the season...will it happen...ha on that....those two are buddies....it's a real sad situation there...great hockey program gone to hell in less then 5 years......it makes you wonder...what are they thinking..??? Isn't the plan to win and put a hard working product on the ice..? As far a s paying him for wins...ha. He has single handly ruin this program and I would say he has done it in spite...not that he wants to lose games..but wants it to be HIS program...not the Maine Hockey program...well here's a BIG thanks to James/Whitehead combo.....Thanks ALOT for RUINING Maine Hockey.....oh and one last shot...is UM's sport winning % around 33-35 combined? Now thats something to get a extension..............S*cks out LOUD.
