The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

very nice norm

BakDraft have you gotten your ticket for the whiteout game?? If so see you there.
Norm I know you read this often and this is a bit off Laker topic and I can't say I am going to say this but I am actually looking forward to watching your Cards. I honestly believe they will be the team to beat in all of DIII hockey this year and I will try to make it to Stafford to watch them. It is only my opinion.

Thank you, and hopefully the White Out will once again be on Time Warner Cable - I still have the last 2 on my DVR (and yes I was there, and will be).

any word from the CC, im sure they have been on the ice??? LEL how was your trip?? Dirt??
...the number floating around campus is 24 newbies....Ran into Eddie in the bookstore and had a nice chat - "leadership and goaltending" is what you will hear from his lips - "we'll be good, but how how good will be determined by leadership and goaltending"...other than that, he is interested to see if the players they recruited are the same that show up for practice #1 - Quote of the day "first day is like Christmas - 24 presents to open and you hope you like what you get". Based upon the "team bonding" I experienced Saturday at The Shed, their "Captain Morgan's" practices are having a good effect on team chemistry, but if they play like they sing, we are in a sh#tload of trouble...:D

Discussions with Time Warner Cable about expanded coverage and distribution began before the summer break - TWC has the complete roster of events WTOP10 plans to produce and it is expected the expanded distribution across Central NY for big games will continue. The "big ask" revolves around Rochester, Buffalo, Albany and New York Metro - perhaps on a delayed basis - in order to serve SUNYAC alums living on those markets as well...they haven't said no yet. WTOP10 and campus technical improvements should result in better pictures and sound...new camera placements should improve live and replay coverage...no word yet on who fills the the talent slots at WTOP10 or WNYO....

thanks for the update,i agree with the goaltending comment for sure,he is the 1 player who can steal a game and lose a game, we are sooooooo untested its not funny ,scary Halloween like untested:eek:..as for leadership ,its up 2 the men to figure it out and Eddie is there to guide them as well.24 newbies, well I am missing only 1 player on my list then, wonder who,and what position he plays...ps love the Shed

I don't know how the hell you win with 24 rookies.......but they're probably not ordinary rookies. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are developing their own chemistry and even have a motto.....(I don't know what it is)....anyway, Mottos don't win championships, goalies do !!! Cadieux reportedly in superb shape after last year's benching to start the season. I think there's another SUNYAC team lurking out there that's going to be a factor...who is it??

correct, goalies r the biggest key for sure, and u have the best around...as for 24 rookies,a few with NCAA experience,9 returners with a decent amount of experience, and as we know these are mostly the 21yo rookies not the 18yo rookies from days past...like i said b4,rocky start, and perhaps a motto or 2 will help in the 2nd half of the season:eek::D...Geny looks good this yr on paper not to much lost and plenty back with a nice looking class,2 D1 trans,1 ACHA player with 120 games of USHL experience, nice class they will have something to say along with Buff State........ow Cortland has a new coach

I hope the Cards are every bit as good as they should be - and then some...makes for great conference play and banter on this board....and I think the Lakers would like to have the spotlight on someone else this year - but I doubt the 'locals" will let that happen.....

The Cards was it 2 years ago now was in a big rebuilding year and they had a very good year with all the rookies. I hope this will be a different year for the Lakers for in the past they had great talent but little chemistry. Last year was great to see the chemistry match the talent. If these young men can build great chemistry then great things can happen.

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Simple fact, Paul is a faster skater and more dynamic player than Whitelaw, which is what pro teams are looking for. Both could help a team equally but I am sure Pauls speed set him apart.

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

we have 9 returners this yr, who is gonna step up their game and who has the most upside??Several of these players didnt get much ice time last year, will that continue or will they play due to time in rank sort of speak?? The remaining Rodrigues is a big kid what can we expect from him this yr??

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

The returner with the most upside is Bobby Gertsakis, he played in some key situations and once he found his legs offensively he was a big part of the team down the stretch. I think Badham, Gertsakis, Rivait, Titanic, Kim-Swallow, King, Rodrigues and Carr will play a lot at least initially. All of them save King and Rodrigues have played in at least one national championship game with King being the victim of the defensive depth the team had last year. If they play their way out of the lineup and/or some new guys play their way in, then they will be in street clothes, I don't think anything will be handed to them. The goalie job should be Gilbert's to lose and while I have heard good things about Zawadski but I don't know if he can outshine Gilby if he is on form.

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

I think Titanic will be the returner to watch this year. Hes got a good skill set

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Titanic and Gertsakis. Most of the others could have trouble fending off all the newcomers. I'll bet a couple pout and leave at the semester if new guys come in and play ahead of them. It's just natural. They feel like they've put in their time as 4th/5th liners and their time has come. But Gosek has to play the best 20 and will.

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

I still believe Chris Carr is going to break out this year. Great hands, decent speed, and we saw some glimpses last year of him getting it all together, could be the "wow" factor on this team. Gertsakis turned it on offensively at the the end of the year, but most importantly, his defensive play throughout the SUNYAC and NCAA playoffs was stellar and will be a huge plus for this team, and the young guys to emulate.

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

Re: The Official 2013 Oswego State Post/Pre-Season Thread - "Love All, Serve All"...

I think Gert and Titanic will continue from last yr,Carr should have a good yr well, he seems to have some nice offensive skills,Badham is a bull in a china shop,he needs to produce more offensively this yr if he wants to see more ice,Rodrigues has to step up at the start of the yr or he will ride the pine,King and Rivet will see a lot of ice for sure and not just in their booze, they need to move the puck out of the zone and help the inexperience btwn the pipes,Kim Swallow, may have a tough time as many of these new recruits seem to be tweeners, not big or small with only some offensive talent, but will get ice due to all around play, and that is Kim Swallows game as well, but I think he will get a chance to start the yr and he as well has to take advantage of that..Btwn the pipes we all know whats what:eek::eek:,due to inexperience...
