The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

If a team goes to at least one alaska school every year it should be 4 of 8
Year 1: @UAA, 4UA_ (double)
Year 2: 4UAA, hUA_
Year 3: hUAA, 4UA_
Year 4: 4UAA, @UA_ (double)

It's an 8 year rotation. In 3 of 8 you play both 4x. In one season you play both twice away and in one season you play one 4x and the other 2x away. It works that way for any pair of teams, whether you're comparing the Alaskas or Tech and Bemidji or Ferris & LSSU

No it isn't.

Designated rival: x4 (4)
4 teams: x4 (16)
2 teams: x2 home (4)
2 teams: x2 road (4)
4+16+4+4=28

Trust me, I studied the old 10 team WCHA schedule thoroughly.

Every year you play your rival x4, 4 teams x4, 2 teams x2H and 2 teams x2A = 28 games. This is a 4 year rotation. Just as Shirtless Guy said.

Other NC series are at Penn State and at Duluth. Penn St is a one time deal. Duluth is 1 for 1. There's also a future 1 for 1 with Western.

Boo for the @Penn game (would have preferred they at least bussed their happy a**es to the CCHA/WCHA schools once).

Yay for Duluth and Western. Would love to keep UNO in the mix, and I know tOSU used to actually love making the trip above the bridge to MQT in October, I would like to see them come back to town. That, and to keep the OhHowIHateOhioState rivalry going.

Michigan and MSU are only offering very unfavorable series. LSSU has Michigan coming up in exchange for two trips to Ann Arbor, with no financial compensation for the second trip.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

The proposal was for LSSU to play either Tech or NMU as a NC in the years they don't all play 4x so then all UP schools would play 4x each year and make a competition of it.

Last year's scheduled NC at home against Huntsville has been moved to this year. Other NC series are at Penn State and at Duluth. Penn St is a one time deal. Duluth is 1 for 1. There's also a future 1 for 1 with Western.

Northern's coming back to Duluth, eh? Not till 2015/16 then.

Pretty sure our non-conference slate is filled up. But I could be wrong.

I've heard rumors of MSU negotiating with UMD. Any news on that front? Of course I've also heard the same about UND and WI, so who knows.

UMD has a home and home with MSU next year according to Coach Hastings on Beyond the Pond in mid-January a couple months ago.

Let me ask a stupid question (I'm sticking to my strength) - Who are the designated rivals? A couple seem obvious, but I'm not even sure who Kato has for a designated rival, other than it must be Bemidji, Huntsville, NMU, UAA, or BGSU, the teams we played 4X this year.

The Alaska's are designated rivals. I believe Tech and NMU are as well. If memory serves correctly, I think BGSU/UAH are designated because BGSU is the closest school to UAH (if it's not BGSU then UAH would be dedicated rivals with Bemidji). Beyond that, I can't recall.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

If it were my decision I'd swap UAH and Mankato. The BSU-UAH hatred should be nurtured more. And like was mentioned, despite being in the same state, MSU and BSU don't seem to have much hate.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

NMU and UAH will play six times, twice as a NC weekend to fulfill a previous contract. I presume that neither of us could fill the date. I haven't seen our schedule, but I'm 99% sure that the third series will be in Marquette.
