Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Has anyone heard when the schedules for 2014-2015 are going to be posted?

Ferris was distributing cards with their tentative schedule at the alumni gathering this weekend. Can't be long before the conference announces, I would think.

[EDIT] Looks like Ferris will be doing the Alaska double the first two weekends of the new year. They also play MSU back-to-back, kind of - we have the weekend in between off.

Shane Fredrick mentioned that Ferris was handing theirs out to fans at the Final Five. Only thing he said though, was that MSU and FSU play 4 games next year.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

There was a rumor that NMU was going to play LSSU as a NC weekend to make it a four game series. I'm not a fan of that because of the lack of points to be earned that weekend.

If the LSSU rumor is true, I believe NMU would be screwed into going to Alaska twice again this season.

Unless there are complete morons in the WCHA office, no one should have to do both Alaska schools in back to back years...

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

you can make Chicago in 6-7 hours from Houghton, the Soo, Marquette or Bemidji? Really?

I suppose I ought to have said 6-8 hours. The mapquest I ran said:

Driving distance and times to Chicago (city center) from:

Big Rapids 234/4.0
Bowling Green 254/4.25
Marquette 379/6.5
Mankato 430/7.0
Houghton 413/7.25
SaultSteMarie 470/7.75
Huntsville 589/9.5
Bemidji 616/10.25

These times were all rounded to nearest 1/4 hour, and the point was that the drive to Chicago can be done in one day or less, not much different from the drives we routinely make during the course of the regular season.

The REAL solution would be to play somewhere in the middle of Lake Michigan, and have a fleet of high-speed hovercrafts, to get everybody there. Not likely, so we have to live in the real world.

Well, McLeod is a lame duck and there hasn't been any rumors of what's happening to the league offices on the Denver campus...

Looking through some old threads, NMU is home in Green Bay versus Wisconsin as one NC series.

In 2015-16 We're at Wisconsin (if neither school opts out) and at the GLI.

That was last season (2013-14). It was going to be done until LSSU decided to play at Notre Dame instead. Next season NMU and LSSU should play four conference games since they only played two games in 2013-14.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Being that you play five of your conference mates four times, you're going to get the Alaska double six times in nine years.

Please quit using things like logic and math.
They're totally out of place on web forums.
What are you, some kind of 'fact' Nazi?
How do you expect us to rant, rave, b1tch, moan and cast blame around if you keep bringing this kind of stuff in to the mix.
I'm truly disappointed in you.
Go to your room.

No you don't, you have a designated rival that you play 4 times every year, that leaves 8 teams that you rotate through, the old WCHA rule at 10 teams was x4 x2h x4 x2a rotated over 4 years. Any team you played 4 times this year, you should be playing 2 of them at home and 2 of them on the road...all the teams you played twice, you should be playing 4 times this year...
EDIT: Sorry thinking about the x4, not the double @, unless NMU was x4 vs both last year, they have a 50/50 chance of doing it again this year. After the 2014-15 conference schedule is announced, we should be able to predict the conference schedule for as long as this current configuration sticks together.

See, there you go.
Bringing facts back into the equation.
Bad form.

Seriously, I didn't realize we had designated rivals in the nWCHA. I must have missed the memo.
What are they?

Fairbanks/Anchorage
Mankato/Bemidji
Tech/Northern

those seem obvious, so that must leave:
Lakers/Ferris
BG/Huntsville

I believe so...as noted in my edit, davy is right on the double, it happens more often that I was thinking, I was confusing the x4 series with playing on the road against someone...in 3 of 4 years, you'll play games at every road building in the conference...which means everyone in the WCHA should go to Alaska at least once a year and will go twice every other season

I'm sorry. It's five times in 8 years, not 6 in 9.

NMU does the double like Tech did this year around Thanksgiving.

I tried to use logic with my ex-wife too. That didn't get me very far either.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I'm sorry. It's five times in 8 years, not 6 in 9.

If a team goes to at least one alaska school every year it should be 4 of 8
Year 1: @UAA, 4UA_ (double)
Year 2: 4UAA, hUA_
Year 3: hUAA, 4UA_
Year 4: 4UAA, @UA_ (double)

The proposal was for LSSU to play either Tech or NMU as a NC in the years they don't all play 4x so then all UP schools would play 4x each year and make a competition of it.

Last year's scheduled NC at home against Huntsville has been moved to this year. Other NC series are at Penn State and at Duluth. Penn St is a one time deal. Duluth is 1 for 1. There's also a future 1 for 1 with Western.

He's not taking into account that UA and UAA are travel partners.
