Going into the season, who would have thought the NCHC championship game winner would knock a top 16 PWR team out, just like AHA. How deliciously ironic.

Hoping Mankato wins today so the WCHA sends two teams.

I don't run the numbers as well as the rest of you do, but isn't Mankato in pretty good shape regardless of tonight's outcome?

I just ran the PWR predictor and came up with AT LEAST one way Mankato does NOT make it:
Lose to Ferris while Miami, New Hampshire, Ohio State and Colgate all win...they miss the NCAA by one spot.

Only two scenarios that can knock them out, IIRC.

Edit: Yes. North Dakota, Ohio State & New Hampshire all have to win AND either Canisius OR Denver have to win. With a Mankato loss.

As others have said, Mankato is in a decent position. However, the NCHC and AHA will knock two top 16 teams out, and if OSU wins today to get the B1G championship, then three of the top 16 are out. So I think it's conceivable that if Mankato loses they could get knocked out, especially if Ohio State wins.

UAA was the best shot at sending three WCHA teams to the dance, right?

I'll be happy with two. Given the question marks of how the PWR was going to shake out, and the rumors that the NCHC and/or B1G thought they could get four teams in, this seems to be pretty fair.

And, wow has the WCHA still put on a great show. The B1G had overtime hockey, but nothing like the UAA/Ferris game last night.

That's the one I saw quoted more often, and that makes since because a BG win would've put Mankato on the bubble.

I'll bet if NDak loses to WMU and misses the NCAAs, the butt-hurt/nachos will eliminate the consolation game from future tournaments.

ND is up 2-0 midway thru the 3rd. They were very unlikely to make it without playing in the consolation.

These TV angles/shots on Fox are ridiculous. I'm sure that the league told them to be tight to hide low attendance, but you can't even see both blue lines in the same shot, and if the puck is deep in the zone, you 1) can't really see the far corner and 2) can't see the offensive blue line. This is ridiculous.

That's two or three dashes right through the slot, blue line to hashes, for a Bulldog.
