The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

I like UAA's chances to help the WCHA's RPI/PWR profile in non-conference (even though it's a tough sched this year) as they've gone 12-8-4 since 2009 in non-conference play. Not stunning numbers but respectable when you look at the opponents.

Alabama- Huntsville at home

I'd like to see 5 W's out of there

So, what are the chances of the WCHA going .500 in non-conference play? I think it is going to be tough, but at least the league teams aren't backing down from anyone!

It's a good point. It's a quality risk/reward situation for the league as a whole. Good on all the teams for their non-con scheduling.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

I am leaning towards 25 wins, not counting games where conference foes are or could end up playing each other. I think that was 64 games, so that would be right around 40%.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

It wont be long before SOMEBODY starts a WCHA thread for the actual season.
Whoever does it, PLEASE let's stop referring to it as the "NEW" WCHA.

In those terms, I'm less excited. I gave it a look and can't disagree with your 25 total in any major way ... let's hope it's closer to 30.

Has anyone successfully logged onto the WCHA.TV site using a smart TV?
My account works fine on my laptop and phone, but on my TV I can't click on the link to login. Is it just me?

I tried my Xbox one but it needed flash.

Honestly, the quality is so bad that it's unusable. I sent in a suppket ticket but no fixing the feed so far.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

What I learned during the first period. I got an email from tech support. Unless your TV can handle Flash content, you can't use your TV browser to view games. (That would have been nice to know in advance.) I've been "watching" the UAF game by just plugging my TV in as a second monitor via HDMI cable. Not that it mattered because the only "video" was about three still images for the entire period and black screen for the majority of the period.

In a word - unwatchable. I'm glad Tech didn't have the first game of the season. It is pretty obvious that this deal got thrown together at the last minute and they're using the boradcast to do their testing that should have been done months or at least weeks ago.

Looks like they're using the same feed as last year now. Not HD, but at least it's watchable.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

Agreed, that's about what I got during the second period. Low-def with a few minor cut-outs from time to time.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

Oh. I was going to give the $12 day pass a go this weekend and try to airplay it to my AppleTV via iPad or something, but it sounds like I'd be better off saving my $12. :(

*mumbles* stupid laptop that can't handle much more than YouTube. :(

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

BGSU has a game at noon, so I'm going to tune in and see if it was a UAF problem or a WCHA.TV problem last night. The broadcast team for the UAF game stated that the HD cameras were not working, so I'm hoping it was a UAF problem with the feed. One other item I discovered is that if your team is on the road, you have to select the home team's channel to watch the game.

Is the one-day pass still a 24-hour pass? Comes in handy when a night game is followed by an afternoon game.

Re: The New WCHA, 2014 Offseason: See-ya, Bruce

The BGSU feed has not been much better. They are putting out low-def video with NO audio at all (other than static).
Strike two for WCHA.TV
