The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

Re: The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

Egos of certain NCHC schools will never allow that to happen.
And the common sense of most WCHA teams will prevent them from trying to fix a relationship and welcome them back where one party packed up and left town in the middle of the night. The NCHC teams are free to join Atlantic Hockey or the ECAC when they are tired of trying to make it on their own. They wanted to be "national" and travel all over the country... then go join a league out East.

Now hang on, I'm pretty sure the NCHC's money is the same color green as anyone's in the WCHA. I would take a few teams back, but there would be some hefty membership fees... ;)

Really? I'm thinking that WCHA teams will see $$$$ and let them back in with, as aparch notes, healthy expansion fees.

GFM <-- doesn't expect the NCHC to fail, though.

I don't doubt that there are a couple teams in that conference that can operate at a profit. But I also don't believe that the nWCHA is going to be the money sink hole that some people assume it will be. They didn't want to share with the others before, so I see no reason to let them back in thinking they would some how make some great financial support of the league's future success. And let's be honest - the WCHA will be poaching teams from Hockey East before Denver ever gets another shot in the conference.
Also I don't see the appeal of a 14 or 16 team "mega-conference" like they have in BCS football. I would be happy with an 8 team conference playing a balanced schedule with 28 conference games. Heck, I would be happy with the conference trying an interlocking schedule with another conference again. I think so much in-conference play is greatly over rated. I think playing a greater variety of schools would be of more interest to fans.

We really are in the league, right? This hasn't been some bizarre episode of Punk'd?

GFM <-- like a kicked dog after last October.

I'm not sure, let's give it a few more weeks to see of the WCHA Tweets: "UAH TO JOIN WCHA FOR 2013-14 SEASON."

By the way, someone needs to teach @WCHAhockey how to use Twitter...

I am getting pumped up about the soon to be upcoming season. cant wait to play Ferris and see how we measure up. can't wait to visit Huntsville. although I'm sure our rocket science students are smarter than your rocket science students. it will be fun to have NMU and LSSU to kick around again. looking forward to visiting Fairbanks.
don't know what to expect from Bowling Green.

also want to remind the newbies that, yes, as a matter of fact, we DO own the trophy. I'll see if MacD would do a quick history of the MacNaughton's fabled history.

just a guess, but I bet the NaCHos go with something glass for their new trophy. nothing says National like a cheap and cheesy glass trophy.

I think you would like the visit to Bowling Green, probably one of the more underrated towns in the league. For the team, most stay at a hotel that is a five minute walk from the rink with Buffalo Wild Wings, Chipotle, Tim Horton's and other eateries right there, along with a couple convenience stores. Downtown is a couple miles down the road and has several nice places to eat drink and be merry.

You'll like BG. Several hotels within walk distance from rink, all the fast food places plus BDubs right there too. The best food and beverage choices are downtown, about 1.5 miles away...but lots of great choices there. I've had the pleasure of holding the MacNaughton Cup. BG won the CCHA regular season championship each of the three years you were in the league (82-83-84), so we're looking forward to having you back...no offense intended, you just must be our good luck charm. I made the trip to Houghton once during that time, that's on hell of a long drive.

I think the NaCHo trophy ought to be a Tupperware bowl full of chips.

My sources say they have found the Holy Grail and plan to fill it with oil from the Lock Ness Monster.

Close. They are filling it with the grease residue from the hair of SCSU players.

Hmm. That could solve Minnesota's problem of dependence of foreign oil.

Minnesota willfully abandoned the WCHA though, so I don't think they'll get any piece of the NCHC's/Nic Dowd's oil reserves.

Do you mean those St Cloud players that are growing their hair out and donating to "Locks of Love" for children with cancer?

Beggars may not be choosers, but I'd guess kids don't want hair that looks like it was used to soak up a BP spill.
