The original thread located at: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?98531

Summary of original thread:
- UAH still not a member.
- UAA sucks for not building a new multi-use arena for hockey.
- UAF may lose their AD.
- NMU might actually move from the 18th century to the 21st century with a new AD.
- Streaming internet video. Not just for porn anymore.
- It's been quiet. Too quiet. For the last month.
- Tech still sucks (err, sorry, natural reflex.)

Your Michigan Tech logo is against the Institution's identification standards.

As a Michigan Tech alumnus who hates seeing "Michigan Tech University" in publications reputable or otherwise and also hates seeing the school's old two-toned logo's being used as a contemporary identifier, I am bothered not one whit about this. In fact, I prefer it.

I modified a bunch of the logos violating many graphic identity standards. Including the mash-up of the WCHA and CCHA logos.

Shoot, I'm just happy that we made the image.

And you guys look good in it! Now if only the slackers running the show would make it official. I'd much rather be in a league of left-behinds that takes in UAH than be in an elitist feminine hygiene product conference. If we don't accept UAH, it just makes us a bunch of left behind feminine hygiene products... :(

And this is the only true MTU logo.

Bringing this over from the previous thread... No, the loss of two games is not idea from a $$$ stand point, but let's remember that much of the new league will be former CCHA teams and having that open week is how they do it. The week off didn't seem to hurt Ferris or any other CCHA team that's made the Frozen Four recently. I'm just saying it's an option if we really want a certain facility.

The CCHA hasn't had an open week at all, unless you earned a bye. The last weekend of Ferbruary was the final weekend of the regular season. The opening round of the playoffs come the following week. Then come the quarterfinals at the home rinks of the top 4 seeds the second weekend of March, with the league tourney at the Joe the third weekend. Then the following weekend is NCAA regional weekend. Ferris had the time off because they were upset in the quarterfinals by Bowling Green and thus missed the CCHA tourney.

Re: The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

The new National Collegiate Hockey Conference expects to make “two pretty big announcements by Wednesday of next week,” commissioner Jim Scherr said on Tuesday.

I saw this story was already leaked at another college hockey site so I figure I would post it here. The two big announcements are that Denver and UND are breaking away from the NCHC to form their own "super-elite-mega-like-minded" conference comprised of themselves and UAH. Denver head coach GD was quoted as saying "This was something we had to do to protect the Denver brand of hockey. The NCHC was just getting too diluted with filler teams and was really loosing its 'like-mindedness". There were too many free thinkers in the room and we need to keep more of a strangle hold on our own future. I think our fans will like the shorter 8-game conference schedule we have set up. Plus the addition of UAH should boost our winning percentage and will make it easier for fans to know where all of the teams in our new conference are located. From what I've been told that is what has been keeping attendance down recently. Not to mention helping UAH gets us the sympathy vote again, and gosh knows we need it with all the bridges we've burned. And also I would like to thank our own AD for giving me supreme power, even though I hear she is pretty smart herself."
This announcement left the remaining members of the NCHC a bit off balance. One AD who commented off the recorded stated "That was really a low blow by those two programs to go and do something like this without our knowledge. Who do they think they are? They told us that we were all special and were going to be part of the super conference with them. This was a set up all along..."

Week off no week off I do not see it making a difference. Benefit of week off is you rest some legs maybe get a player back. No week off you may be more in the groove of playing. I say no tourney and play best of 3 on campus, and if 3 is too many then play a 2 game aggregate.

Maybe it's the economy or just the gas prices but the NCAA regionals were terrible except in MN and the CCHA tourney was worse. Writing on the wall pretty clear.

Cost for one extra travel date unreasonable? Maybe travel for playoffs is a shared type of cost. Pick the top four teams only is an option as well.

Unfair advantage? Win the season.

Re: The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

You could forego a postseason altogether and let the RS winner get the AQ. You could do a four-game, two-day tournament hosted by the #1 RS team. You could hang me from a yardarm, although I'm fat and will probably break it.

GFM <-- cranky today ... it's finals week.

Re: The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

Is it that or the fact that the Bruins lost??? :p

Or the fact that my mother had a heart attack last week and my dad had one yesterday. Yeah, I'm already over the Boston thing.

GFM <-- doesn't welcome a Tim Thomas trade, but would support it, if we're going to be completely off-topic.

Oh, sorry to hear that....... Didn't mean to pile on or anything. Hope everyone is getting better!
