The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

Couple rumors going around that Notre Dame will join the NCHC. The best breakdown is in the article from Adam Wodon of CHN:

I don't know if it happens just because of Notre Dame's TV deal with NBC Sports. But it makes more sense for Notre Dame to be in the NCHC because that is where they want to be recruiting. They want to get the MN kids and that would help them do that more than just playing non-conference series in Minnesota.

It is also odd that the NCHC would have 9 teams...unless ASU joins. But that doesn't seem imminent.

Something to keep an eye on....

Sweet! Maybe the NCHC can begin the destruction of another league!

As awesome as that would, HEA would probably fill their extra spot with Quinnipiac and then they ECAC would poach a AHA team.

In that case let's take BC and BU too and then take Mankato from the WCHA.

Instead of calling it the Super League we could call it the Super Duper League!

Maybe we can poach UND, UMD, Minnesota and Wisconsin from the Women's WCHA to ruin that league too!

I don't know. UMD is pretty bad against those teams and they won't have a coach in a month. Just keep it to UND, UW and UMTC.

Notre Dame wants to come crawling back to try to get into the NCHC after realizing how bad hockey east sucks? Truly shocking! Hockey east bent over to get them to join, how much farther will they have to bend over to keep them?

Re: The NCHC Year Two: Haters Please Form A Queue to the Right

I can still remember as if it happened yesterday when the Big Ten hockey conference officially came into existence. Fans of certain teams that I will not name here went on and on crying about how the Big Ten schools were killing the WCHA and CCHA, only to see those teams go on to form the NCHC. The Big Ten hockey conference didn't kill the WCHA or the CCHA, but the NCHC did in fact kill the CCHA. I have no respect for any of the schools in the NCHC because of the mere fact that they did what they did as a knee jerk reaction to the Big Ten. I'm not going to argue the success of any of those teams on the ice, as some of them are quite good. I just happen to feel that it took a certain lack of ethics to abandon the WCHA and CCHA the way those teams did. They did the very same thing that they accused the Big Ten schools of doing (acting like they're too good for the rest of the schools in their respective conferences). The only difference is the Big Ten schools didn't have a choice, they had an all sports affiliation with the conference with an exemption for hockey only due to the fact that fewer than six conference schools had a D1 hockey program. Once Penn State got on board it was an automatic move on the part of the conference to sanction hockey, the individual schools didn't have a say. For the record, the Big Ten hockey conference is the best thing to ever happen to college hockey for the purpose of getting more widespread mainstream exposure. Casual sports fans who are familiar with the Big Ten name but have never heard of the WCHA or CCHA are now more likely to discover college hockey than they were before. The NCHC schools had a choice, they could have remained loyal to the WCHA and CCHA but jumped ship with the arrogant attitudes that they were too good for the rest of the schools in those conferences. Well, that just goes to show the NCHC schools have no class.

GO BIG TEN!!!

There is one other difference. As proven this year the NCHC teams were right, we are too good for the rest of the schools.

I think Minnesota State might suggest otherwise, but thanks for my proving my point about the obnoxious arrogance.

My vote for classiest post of the year! I'm just glad you are on here and still in good spirits, I would have thought most big ten hockey fans would have already jumped off the nearest ledge.

You are quite welcome but it's not really arrogance when it's true. Given your location though I'm not surprised that you are unable to grasp this. Does anyone who lives in the stinkhole known as Fargo, ND even know how to skate much less a single rule about hockey?

Sorry to inform you it is arrogance regardless of whether or not it is true, and if you really want to get down to it we could easily debate how true it is in this particular case. The NCHC has some good teams, but you're delusional if you believe those teams are so far above and beyond the other good teams in college hockey. If you think that a team from the NCHC is going to win the national championship this year I think you're going to be disappointed.

As for your classless remark about the city I live in... have you ever heard of Danny Irmen? 'Nuff said.

You throw around the word class a lot. I think Dirty has plenty of class.

The point of the NCHC was to create a conference where the strength of schedule would entice recruits, make coaches happy and increase the chances of having 4 or 5 (or hell maybe even 6) teams high in the pairwise. The NCHC is top to bottom a better conference with more good teams than other western leagues. MSU, Tech and BGSU are all great teams, but the NCHC has more good teams than the WCHA.

Jeff Jackson wanted to be in the NCHC but higher ups, probably because of the TV deal, chose HEA.
