The Lego Movie

It's pretty goo--I MEAN IT'S AWESOME BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

(Really, I thought it was a great movie)

If you dont like the Lego Movie you deserve to be deported...

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

I usually like 'kids' movies (case and point, I saw Frozen the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it), but the Lego Movie wasn't that good. Not worth seeing, in my opinion.

If I deserve to be deported, so be it.

San Diego Comic Con starts today... For those of us that enjoy comic book movies, this is like Christmas morning... Really looking forward to what Marvel is going to offer us... They've already released their schedule through 2019 with many of the release dates having TBD projects... I'm sure we're gonna get more info by the end of the weekend... Can't wait for this stuff to come out :D

Marvel reimagines Green Goblin.

I had never seen Alien before last night.

Pretty good. It answers a lot of questions I had about Prometheus. Had I seen this movie prior to Prometheus, I would have probably enjoyed Prometheus even more than I did.

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

Due to getting my renter's credit (including a slight increase due to the new tax laws) I bought:

Bounty Killer
Top Secret
His Girl Friday
Django Unchained
Into The White

I have a higher standard for buying movies (my standards, not AFI or any other group). The re-watch factor, the movie-making historical significance (think Freaks or Godfather), and obviously overall quality are the guidelines I follow. Every movie I purchase is not taken lightly. :)

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

I really enjoyed this movie.

You'll get a kick out of this: Amazon wanted about $55 for the special release of this. EDIT: I bought the cheaper DVD, about $7, I think.

And your recommendation steered me to this movie, because it was an odd choice, coming from you. Kind of out of nowhere.

Haha, oh yeah. I was trying to remember if I had provided the recommendation or not. :)

Glad you enjoyed it.

I was on the floor laughing, and totally appreciated the movie.

I mean, a movie like that from you is like me recommending Superman IV. ;)

I first saw it in my film studies class in college. <-----

I think we saw:
HGF
Three Kings
Stagecoach (?)
Our Hospitality (silent)
Nosferatu (part of it)
Breathless
Russian Ark (one uninterupted shot, 90 mins)
I'm trying to remember all of them but it's been quite a while.

Russian Ark....OMFG. Loved the concept, but what a boring movie. I was SO disappointed. A+ for what they were aiming for, but F for entertainment.

Another staple of clapping for credit, Nanook of the North, is like that. It's like watching paint dry, or ice melt. Or not melt.

That's it: it's like watching ice not melt.

I didn't think Russian ark was terrible. I mean, it's the antithesis to Michael Bay so that has to count for something.
