The Manhattanville Valiants 2014-15 Season: Finally Returning Home.

Re: The Manhattanville Valiants 2014-15 Season: Finally Returning Home.

The Manhattanville Valiants will finally be returning to Rye Playland for the 2014-15 season, after a two year absence.

"One of the most intimidating hockey facilities in Division III hockey" What a joke...the only thing intimidating are the HS girls cruising the hallway outside the dressing rooms waiting for a birthday party on the second floor sheet....

Have you ever driven around near NYC...it can be VERY intimidating...add on top of that the destruction the storm caused...that "hockey facility" is brutal to opponents. I mean come on, the decisions you have to make...hockey game, thrill rides, kiddie land......that Starship 2000 looks very intimidating....

It's called "Playland".....sends chills.

This would be a good off season thread--most intimidating venue in D3....everyone weigh in.

3. Utica - they have beer
2. Stafford - It's like being at your own funeral

and the winner is. .......

1. The Cooler - Being distracted by Puck Bunnies can be hazardous to your health. ...especially when you bring your wife...

Where do you rank Kreitzberg and Kenyon in the "funeral home" standings? Especially during school breaks. Middlebury's "White-Out" attempt this year was laughable... pretty sure I saw a lot of blue, some green, some purple, a bit of red, and almost no white... and where were the fans?

In the West, I would rank the Willett Arena in Stevens Point as #1 in this category....great crowds, big student turnout with a loud pep band, white out nights are well supported...crowd sits nearly on top of the ice sheet...normally SRO when SNC is the opponent..IMHO..no other Western arena can come close to the Willett..

Which rink? For intimidation, I would say Romney hands down; smaller, closer, reputation and louder.

The winner.

The most intimidating college hockey rinks no longer exist. In D1 it was Walker Arena at Clarkson. In D3 it was Romney (BEFORE the renovation when they still had chain link fencing instead of glass and it was egg shaped). Heck, even RIT is abandoning Ritter Arena.

the ZooCrew was rough for sure, the dark Domes at ELmira College weren't that easy to play in going back a few years

From what I heard the early 90's Rowdy crowd at Stevens Point made the Corner Crew at RIT look like child's play.

I would have liked to have been at the Willett in those years.
