The Made in USA Thread

Re: The Made in USA Thread

Whoosh. WT F do you think is going to happen to them if they lose Western dollars? That conditions will improve? If you want to show how compassionate and forward-thinking you are, work to improve working conditions, construction practices, and pay levels in the country. Turning your back on them will only worsen their conditions.
We have enough issues here, at home, before having to worry about Bangladesh.

Just wow. Me, buying a shirt made in a Banglidesh sweatshop, will imorove working conditions etc. for the poor slobs working there. Or, me not buying a shirt will reduce funding for the *****holes that own these places. Which would I chose? Not buying. Thanks for your input.

to be fair, you can buy clothing made overseas that is not made in a sweatshop. I buy a lot of clothing from Patagonia, but most of their products are not made here (a lot of the organic cotton is grown here though). http://www.thecleanestline.com/2012/04/patagonia-clothing-made-where-how-why.html http://www.thecleanestline.com/2009...t-you-make-more-of-your-goods-in-the-usa.html

Speaking of beer, even though I like Bass, Harp, Guinness, Newcastle, Samuel Smith, Heineken, St. Pauli Girl, etc. etc. etc., I do find myself buying locally brewed Michigan beers over foreign beer these days: Bells, New Holland, Founders, Arcadia, North Peak, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc....

I have long time been a euro beer drinker.

My new beer is Surly.

We absolutely do. My point is that not buying clothes made in Bangladesh - or any of the other third world hellholes - does NOT make one a better person since it actually makes it harder for Bangladesh to become the country that we would have it be.
