The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

When these things happen, the people will more often blame the party that hold the White House. Qevin knows that, he’s old enough to see and learn from prior split houses and branches. Newt exploited it, and then the guy whose name I forget that did the same during Pres. Obama’s term. Blowback always came against the President.

Yep, and our resident mouth breather will believe it too

Our electric glass-top died, and we replaced it with an induction primarily because we have little kids and my wife liked that the top doesn't stay hot for as long after you are done cooking. I had never used one before and had never really read about them, so I didn't have any real expectations. Holy crap is it awesome!!!! I was always a gas guy, but I would never go back to gas again.

The pots don't have to be centered for it to work, but obviously, only the part of the pan over the inductor is going to be heated (same as if you didn't center your pan on electric or gas). You can use cast-iron. About the only pans that don't work are all-aluminum types - but always check the label when buying a pan.

I think you guys (and gals) sold me

Then the White House should be extraordinarily public with their negotiations and hire them best media team money can buy

Except that it isn't. It would be normally but because of what Trump did this is a much bigger deal than it would normally be. The fact that they keep finding more documents is also keeping the story in the news way longer than it should be.

If you want to talk degrees then yes it is not really a story and certainly is not even in the same universe of severity as what Trump did but it would be dishonest of us to pretend this is a nonstory and the optics are horrible because for months we biotched about how bad Trump was about classified documents. Biden is doing the right thing being honest about it but the media is not wrong to cover this either. (how they choose to cover it though is often in question) It is definitely not a good look for Biden.

The Dems need to just let it play out because the GOP will overplay their hand sooner or later. Hell this will all be overshadowed when they decide to expunge Trump's impeachments. Just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing and people will get bored.

But you have it there already. It's a story about optics, not reality. Again, if we find out that there were multiple and specific requests that were ignored/lied in response then yeah, this would become a real and actual story. Until then, this is political nonsense. Let them bleat. If this didn't exist there would be some other stupid made up nonsense.

One explanation I saw was that it seemed probable that this was stemming from Biden being VP up until the minute Trump and Pence were sworn in. Then a few of the documents got misplaced or forgotten.

From dick nixon

"In Biden's case it seems to me it happened in determination to act as Vice President right up until noon on January 20th. They threw things in boxes and got out. The law is the law but the documents were not so sensitive the government knew they were missing."

"If the government knew the documents were missing, you'd damn well better believe it would have come out '16-'20 and been used accordingly.

Put another way, if certain documents are thrown in a box, accidentally or not, a few people at Langley and Foggy Bottom and the Pentagon and the National Archives will always know about it."

Still shaking my head over a conversation I had at work this week. Several of us chatting before a meeting, and the conversation was edging close to politics. One of the guys started, “now I don’t know your political leanings, but….” I cut him off to say that I was probably about the most liberal person you’d ever find in the defense industry (99% sure he will never meet Kepler!), just so he could avoid the embarrassment of saying anything he didn’t want the “enemy” to hear.

to my amusement/amazement, he proceeded to say, “oh, that’s okay. I can understand and appreciate different viewpoints. But there’s this one guy on Fox that you should really listen to just to hear him out. I find him to be the most logical, well-thought-out person who really makes a lot of great points. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of him, his name is Tucker Carlson.”

I just can’t even…..

Guy not good enough to pull off gilded sarcasm?

No - genuinely 100% sincere. Darndest thing is that he is under 40 - maybe even less than 35.

Moron dads train moron sons. The solace is we peel the smart ones off every generation. The pain is, very few of them are smart -- maybe 1 in 8. Genetics don't lie.

Lol holy fuck. I'm laughing hard.

I guarantee you that every single presidential transition includes a non-insubstantial amount of miss-placed documents. The difference, entirely, is what is done with it once discovered.

Until something of actual note comes out, this is just a stupid right wing talking point.

Exactly.

Now if Biden were whining and crying "but those are mine, you have no right to them!!!", Then it would be a different story.

Kep, show your wife if you wanna see her get a lil excited

Well, there's a service entrance for people who appeal to the single celled organism TED talkers. Dr. Mrs. is more likely to get turned on by Jurgen Habermas than Chuck Todd.

But thank you for the thought.

Remember the rule of mass democracy: no one anyone has heard of will last more than three generations (sorry Beatles, Freud, and Foucault). No one anyone knows will ever do anything that matters. The people who will be remembered are at least 3 standard deviations beyond anything that will ever hit media.
