The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

So Trump's in jail because someone (Liz Cheney?) with "the goods" left the manila envelope on Garland's stoop and I missed it?

Shamelessly stolen from @ScottAdamsSays ... his timeline of the Jan 6 committee's findings.

Trump attempted a planned insurrection.
Okay, loosely planned.
Okay, not planned, but he encouraged it.
Okay, he didn't encourage it, but he didn't try to stop it.
Okay, he did try to stop the violence, but he should have done more, and sooner, during fog of war.

And mentioning "should have done more", also stolen ...

Tell a Democrat the Jan6th hearings cleared Trump by producing no evidence of wrongdoing except "should have done more," which is a generic truth that applies to Pelosi just as much. Then watch their faces.

Quoting Scott Adams? Really? That's not even an attempt at trolling. That's just being lazy.

Gee. I guess if Scott Fucking Adams says Trump is innocent than Trump is innocent. No one with a functioning cortex could decide otherwise.

I may have missed the posts, but apparently Matt Gaetz tried to double down following his "why is it women who look like a thumb want abortion rights?" and found out why messing with the younger generation on social media isn't a good thing.

Meanwhile, because of this, she's helped raise over $70,000 for abortion/reproductive health care donations.

The same Scott Adams who blames his show being canceled because he was White? Sure it was last in the ratings (not even close to relevance the number was so low) no it was definitely the White thing...

Listen, in 1999 I was probably the prime audience for a Dilbert TV show, and that show suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

The effort to "moderate" the republican party was always futile. I understand trying, but man, how could it possibly take this long for anyone to see what the republican party is, has been for a long time now and that instead of moderating it has been on a 3 decade lurch, often at light speed, not just to the right but to all-in facism.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I knew this by the early 90s. When once a third of my votes went to republicans I have not voted for an "r" in a general election in decades. The last full-throated "r" vote I cast was in the Michigan primary in 2000 when I only voted in the republican one in an attempt to keep GW Bush from winning in Michigan in hopes the party would not nominate someone dangerously unqualified for president.

I wish I understood why people in this country who are literally in danger based on their sex or gender, their color, or who they love could possibly have thought the republican party in any way had their backs.

The interviewer quoted Meadows saying that as many as 10,000 National Guard troops were told to be on the ready by the secretary of defense.

When asked if there was any accuracy to the statement, Miller said: "I'm not... not from my perspective.

"I was never given any direction or order or knew of any plans of that nature.

"So I was surprised by seeing that publicly but I don't know the context or even where it was.

"So, no there was... obviously we had plans for activating more folks, but that was not anything more than contingency planning.

"There was no official message traffic or anything."

He was cut off and the interviewer asked for clarification about whether there were or were not 10,000 troops on the ready for January 6 prior to January 6.

He answered: "A non-military person probably could have some sort of weird interpretation, but no. The answer to your question is no.

"That was not part of my plan or the Department of Defense's plan.

He added: "There was no direct... there was no order from the president."

Not that any non-moron believed that story.

The only thing I ever heard about troops was Wee Donnie one-term brought up offhandedly at some meeting the idea of 10,000 NG troops to "protect" his supporters on their march to the Capitol

But never any official order transmitted or instructions delivered to do so.

'94, here.

In '80 the GOP was just a front for rich people getting poor people to cut their own throats; that was obvious. Reagan was a dope with a nice face professionally trained to read a script. The actual power of the GOP was in banks and private trusts.

But in '94 it metastasized: the first group of derps who believed the GOP lies graduated from Useful Idiot voter to apparatchik and Member. The party began huffing its own glue. The line from Newt to January 6th was straight and inevitable.

"There are over 270 planks in the GOP platform, and we only disagree with 4 of them."

At this point, the only LGBTQ folks left clinging to the GOP are the racist and/or rich ones.

Wonder if I agree with any of them.....but not enough to subject myself to reading a GOP platform document.

"And sure one of those 4 questions our right to exist but we really need to get rid of that estate tax in the off-off-chance we ever have $10 million. So, you know, those even out."
