They're not televising the hearings this week. They clearly are not news. The Watergate hearings were broadcast on every channel. I know that's impossible now but every news channel should at least be doing it.

edit: with the caveat that I am of course not a legal expert in any way (nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last night) that seems like kind of a big deal if you read the whole thread/story.

One good thing now is that Cheney and a few other Rs who voted to impeach have every reason to press hard on proving both the falsity of the election fraud claim and the dumpers' support of the Jan 6 uprising. Many of them are probably toast in their districts already, but proving the basis for their position will be important to them.

Not saying that will push the result the way many of us want it, but it should help. Diehard dumpers will turn a deaf ear, we know that.

As the GQP purges itself it creates a larger and larger category of excommunicants whose path back to the grift is to de-Stalinize the party (e.g., the Lincoln Project). The crazier they get the more they dig their own grave from the inside. But in the meantime there's the little matter of surviving as a democratic nation while these traitors complete their Man in the High Castle plot arc.

All of them, from the Dump family through his administration through his enablers in Congress and on the Court and in the media down to the brownshirt leaders of his SS forces. That's about 5k heads on the block, give or take. Small price for saving democracy and keeping nukes out of Nazis hands.

Seriously, we were losing 5k on a weekend at the height of the Plague. One weekend of directed and well-deserved retribution could buy this country a hundred years of safety and prosperity. "The blood of tyrants," as Jefferson would say.

Cause he half-azzed it. Said it wasn't his responsibility to determine guilt, and left that to Congress. A Congress full of Republicans we all know don't care a bit about what the law says.

It could be seen as that. But then again, you come at the king, you best not miss. They've tried three rushed, half-azzed attempts to hold Trump accountable, and he's weaseled away each time. If, and I don't know for certain if he is, but if Garland is taking the slow road to make sure he can build a case that will stick, I'll take that.
