Holy crap...Andrew Clyde was the 5th vote against. McCarthy didn't even last until the letter "D".

It means nothing but it sounds like Jeffries beat McCarthy in the first vote. That is embarrassing!

This hasn't happened in almost a century. Not even sure what happens next...

They're not going to find 5 R's to vote with Dems for a moderate speaker (which was a nice dream). But the best case, and not very unlikely, is that the battle drags on for awhile and gets stupid enough that the R's won't be able to work together on anything - essentially turning the Gym Gang into a 3rd party (of syphilitic shit-throwing monkeys). The MAGA voters will lose all interest in politics by next year, once the Fox signal gets scrambled by competing masters.
 
I don't see any path for McCarthy, but there's no clear alternative. Any chance the Freedom Caucus rallies around someone like Steve Scalise? This circus is almost as unprecedented in its nature as the Capitol tourist visit on 1/6.
 
There was rumors last night of moderate Dems talking with moderate Rs about finding and R candidate that is palatable. I'm not sure who that would be but at this point who knows where we are headed...

The GOP doesn't have anyone that will satisfy both ends of their caucus right now. Freedumbers put up Biggs to block Qevin but he can't win. Who is their compromise candidate that will satisfy the old guard and tbe Qrazies?

MSNBC was right last night...the Dems should step back and watch the carnage. This is only good for them long term. Also this shows how great Pelosi was. She never had this issue even when she had a narrow majority and none of the young upstarts could have been as effective at controlling the Dems as she was.

If Gym ends up Speaker 2024 will be a lot of fun for The Left. Jeffries will have quite the majority and Biden will cakewalk. He Hunter works probably win an election...

All four vote for Jim Jordan (after he urged everyone to support McCarthy).

Looks like the goal of the second round unified vote for Jordan was for McCarthy to lose more votes in the second round, potentially leading to a true free-for-all. Guess we’ll know in a minute if that’s true. Like you’ve pointed out, best for Democrats to stay out of the way and let the circus stay center stage.
 
So I forgot there is some value to Jeffries winning...if Qevin "won" but didn't hit the mark the GOP could have held a vote to change the rules so a plurality was all you needed to win. Unless some of the Anti-McCarthy crowd flips Jeffries has a plurality.
 
I hope this lasts until Jim gets the job. Once America watches that assclown running the house the Republican party will be a pariah. Can you imagine the disdain Turtle Boy will have for the Speaker of the House? It will be epic.
