The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

I believe he was already indicted for opening the door that day. Methinks that indictment will be amended with this new video. Is the penalty for treason harsh?

I'm not sure if we still have incitement to insurrection laws, but if we do those statements must fall under them.

At some point we have to take this seriously and start locking people up. Your free speech rights do not extend to advocating the violent overthrow of the US government.

If this was happening on the Left these people would already be in SuperMax. Stop treating the Right as if it was special.

You think the current make up of the Supreme Court will back up an arrest of a former President who put 3 of them on the bench when he would have a semi-legitimate First Amendment argument? Hitting the bong early today?

Democracy is on its last legs in a lot of places. Rather prominently probably here in the United States. We don't need a violent overthrow of our government, but we might need to more violently defend it against its enemies, the vast majority of whom are domestic.

For most of our real history, Democracy hasn't been nearly as great as people like to think.

When we started as one, only land owners could vote. And people could be property of others. Slowly voting was more allowed, but at the same time, restrictions were put into place to undo the new rights. Don't forget the civil war that was over human rights- even when much of the north had problems with giving the rights, too.

So there's plenty of history within our own borders that we haven't been the shining start that people want to pretend that we do.

All of that gets an order of magnitude worse when you see what our country has done outside of our borders. We've taken actual democracies and let the CIA install dictators. Let alone the countries we've taken over via corporations. On a more personal note- how the US has treated territories that we took over for whatever reason, only gave them "rights" to use them as cannon fodder, took away land owning rights because greed... I could go on, but there's a good book about the US history in Puerto Rico that is hard to fathom happening.

We are *this* close to being a real Democracy, and have to keep fighting the people who have really been in power for the last 240 years. And it's really sad that people in the Democratic party fail to see the need for the voting reforms that D's are trying to pass.

https://twitter.com/search?q="Brian Williams"&src=trend_click&vertical=trends

Brian Williams airs the ad Faux wouldn't show from Meidastouch about the Insurrection which is all just the words of the cops who had to deal with the traitors.

These images are why disingenuous BS by the GOP and the "Good Little Germans" who try and use semantics to act like it wasn't as bad as it was (especially for the cops cause they may have died after the fact) are everything that is wrong about what is going on in this country. I used to be able to roll my eyes at pr!cks who either overtly or low key defended these clowns but now I have zero fucks to give.

Of course it also angers me that cops still treated all of those people (who actually were trying to beat them and kill them) better than they treated the George Floyd protesters that almost never did anything but throw water bottles...but that is a problem for another time.

That makes more sense than some of the Critical Race theory arguments I have heard of late...
