In the last three nights, I've seen different ads pumping up Ron DeSantis for President. Have any of you seen them??

Just saw one last night (here in one of the reddest parts of Florida). “NeveR backs Down” with the R and D in red. I guess “stands his ground” was a little too in your face.

Um, Ronnie? Sometimes compromise works better…..

I'm sure they're carefully worded to avoid saying he's running. Because actually declaring would trigger the FEC to keep tabs on his donors AND until FLA legislature corrects their oopsie-daisy, he can't formally declare without submitting his resignation as governor.

I love when short sighted Republican actions come back to bite themselves in the *ss.
 
I will stand by what I said months ago...if he wants any shot at the office in the future he needs to not run this cycle and make it noticeable how different he is from Trump. He has made every bad decision he possibly can and Trump is destroying him. He doesn't have the cache to play the games Trump did and Faux learned that in a matter of weeks. CNN shifting Right-Center was the perfect platform for him but since he has made his persona on the BS "I dont take crap from the media and fake news" he can't even take advantage.

He and his people are so friggin clueless they think the whole country is Flo(R)ida. They don't realize no one cares about some effeminate fat freak in an ill fitting suit trying to act like he has any clout.
 
His mistake was half-stepping against Dump rather than going all in gargling him, taking the Veep slot, and then using that to be The Next Dump down the line.

Isn't it funny how these supposedly "smart" Righties like Cruz and De Santis turned out to be rock stupid?

He didn't say he is not running. He said he is not a candidate. That's just a statement about the present. Biden could have said it up to yesterday.

De Santis was definitely running, he just got harpooned faster than JEB! I expect now he will simply slink away and try again another election. But I'm not even sure he can win in FL now having committed against the Mouse.

As long as The Villages exists he will be safe in FL. Then again The Villages exists under the same sort of deal Di$ney does so if a Dem wanted to make a name for themselves...

Ronny couldn't afford to be Trump's Veep. If Trump loses he is DOA going forward and if he wins he will be as worthless and screwed as Pence. Short of Trump dying he would have zero chance at the Oval Office.

The media handed Ronny the easy path. All of corporate media was slobbering his knob and positioning him as "Trump Without the Crazy". He just didn't have the intellect to actually use it. He had months to shore up support and positive interviews, do the Sunday Show circuit and seem reasonable and viable...and he decided it wasn't worth his time because since Flo(R)ida loves crazy that is where he needs to go! Meanwhile his fellow FLGOPers won't endorse him and openly talk about how he is screwing up their agenda and Trump is lapping him in every metric that matters. It is amazing to watch. This is the national political version of the moron who twirls his gun to show how cool he is but drops it and shoots himself in the kneecap.

Safe for what, though? You aren’t allowed to serve 3 consecutive terms as governor, so he’s unemployed at the end of 2026. Can’t see him going back to the House. Maybe he could star in another GOP civil war by going up against Rubio or Scott.
 
I assume FL stays as red or even gets redder, not even accounting for their cheating. Every dirtbag Midwestern federal contractor in DC I have met dreams of retiring to either FL or SC. These guys are all balls out Christofascist and racist. If anything they are going to tilt that state even more stupid and ugly for the next 30 years.

My naive hope is as they drain out of the civilized portion of the country, the slave states will go GOP by larger and larger margins which won't gain them anything, but all the other states will gravitate towards sanity. We won't get more blue states but perhaps we will get enough center-right states that the GOP splits into rightwing civil war.

My guess is he runs for Senate. He has no shot at President ever unless he backs out of running now.
