The Cell Phone Thread

I have a dumb cell phone question. Lately, all replies to email I send from my iphone have been coming to my gmail address. They're not being SENT from that address, but it must be set as a "reply to" somewhere. I can't find it anywhere in Settings. Anyone have any idea how to change it? I want whatever email I use to send it to be the reply-to address (which is the way it used to be).

buy a new android phone? :D

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

On a desktop, Settings -> Accounts -> "Send mail as:"

That should make sure that you're sending the mail as the correct name. I've never had it just change on my phone, though.

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

The HTC one could possibly be the biggest piece of $#!+ to be put on thé market in the history of technology.

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

Just got a Samsung Galaxy S4 to replace my old Motorola Droid X Maxx. The Droid had gotten so slow and glitchy that I couldn't deal with it anymore. So far, the S4 is working excellent. Love it. Also got a Lifeproof case for it, it was expensive, but this thing is bulletproof, waterproof, and everything proof. The guy at the Verizon store said that the day they got them in stock they tried to break a phone in the case, went to the roof of the building and through the phone off. No damage.

My son has a lifeproof case, you can't understand a thing he says when talking on the phone to him. If you don't use it as a phone its awesome other than that its a PO S

He'd probably be best off getting either a bluetooth earpiece or a corded headphone set in order to not have the mic obscured by the case.

I have a life proof case and it works fine. Maybe it's just Andrew or his phone.

My hearing is bad(too much equipment over the years) but even his mom has a hard time understanding him. maybe he is just ***** with me :)

He did that yesterday when I talked to him, he used a headset and it was fine. Its garbled when he doesn't

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

I need either a new phone or a new battery. My Galaxy S3 works fine, but I can't even go 9 hours without draining 100% of my battery.

I know the S5 is coming fairly soon, and my contract ends in like Sept. But I'm not sure I want the most current phone and its possible issues.

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

I figured out my email problem - roadrunner had changed their outgoing mobile server info, so all my sent mail was using the gmail server, as it couldn't connect to to the mobile rr server.

I've finally joined the world of unlimited texting, after 15 years. Upgraded my phone to an iphone 5s, and I couldn't use my $8.95/month plan anymore, so I joined my uncle's family plan.

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

Got my new Samsung Galaxy S5 today. My S3 was great but i was having to charge it 3x a day just to be able to use it, and getting a new battery was requiring more effort than I wanted (i.e. Verizon doesn't sell them).

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

Putting this here cause I can't find another tech thread...

I've been kinda stumped on what to get my Mom for Christmas... Started kicking around the idea of purchasing a tablet... She is an avid reader, so really thinking about going the Kindle route... In searching however, I am seeing Amazon Fire tablets and Amazon Kindle Fire tablets... Both seem to access books/video/internet in the same manner... I thought that a Kindle was oriented around e-books, but the Amazon fire seems to push that it has the same access to those... Is there a major difference that I'm missing?

I think the Amazon Fire is a phone, while the Kindle Fire is a tablet...

Re: The Cell Phone Thread

What they said, and I do love my Kindle, b/c it serves its purpose: minimal interwebs interaction, plus music/books.

Oh wow... I never put 1 and 1 together on that one... The model I was eyeing had a 7" screen, so that never even crossed my mind... Maybe I need to actually go to a brick & mortar place and talk to someone about these things, ha ha....
