Re: The Bible: Real, Fiction, or somewhere in between?
If you call that his moving.

If you say so.Forgot. It's only good things.
If you say so.
No thanks.Pull my finger.
No thanks.
Please don't get him going again on this kind of stuff.I don't really see where it's appropriate to use the death of a child to snark about the operations of a Christian summer camp.

What does that say about things that the main point of agreement is hopelessness!I think we all have moments where we grab the 2.5" paintbrush out of frustration with a person or group we don't agree with. It was only a few weeks ago that you reminded me that Flag doesn't "want" martial law, he's just nutty to the point that he concern-trolls us about it.
And shortly before that there was Bob, reminding me that Board is hopeless. On that point, I agree.![]()

And in addition to Flag, we have our host of lefties that are just as, or more nutty. Just don't want them to feel left out, as they don't get the recognition they deserve.
I think your perception that this place is much better than most places (not familiar with Freep or DU (other than the Pioneers)) says a lot about the quality of interaction that goes on in public spaces around the country. I'm sure you're right there are places much worse. If a person every bothers to read comments on the bottom of any news article dealing with a hot button issue, one can see how crazy people get when interacting online. But that doesn't mean at the end of the day this place is anywhere near a model of decorum and how to respectfully have discussions on issues people differ on. I know you'll differ with me on that, but I'd say at least part of that is that this board has a lot more leftie-leaning posters, so the lefties don't get jumped on if they post something controversial.I'm not sure Flag counts as a righty. He seems to have left Cartesian space and is vectoring off into some heretofore unknown dimension.
Neither the righties nor the lefites here are particularly "nutty." We've got a few who like to pull tails, and a few who clearly bring their empty heads to Townhall or Redstate at the start of each day to fill up on talking points, but based on the comments to most political discussions in national forums the insanity quotient here is VERY low, which makes the discussions worth having.
5 minutes of looking at Freep or DU is enough to make this place look like the Diogenes Club.

and I thought we were dominant, with 70 percent of the population and all the other blah, blah, blah. I just can't remember which narrative I'm supposed to follow from moment to moment.Nice piece about the purpose of the OK Baphomet statue and the ancillary effects on the right's surreptitious attempt to act like Christianity is our state religion.
BTW, since there's no link in the article here, once again, is the Item Of Interest. It's gorgeous -- I would definitely buy a figurine for Candlemass services.
Edit: they're on Amazon, but yikes! I'm a cheap Satanist.

Not that anyone is remotely interested in such a thing, obviously. But I know that's a popular boogeyman people trot out.Even if you were 99.9% you wouldn't get to be the state religion.
