The Athletes sexual assault thread...You asked for it

Classic mookie humor. Remember when people said Penn State might not start a hockey program because the punishment from Sandusky was going to be so bad?

The NC$$ doesn't care. Punishing Michigan State football would cost them money so there will be no punishment. Now, if there was a financial benefit to a student-athlete they might take notice. Rape? No big deal. Academic fraud? Who cares? Buy a burger for a player? 3-year bowl ban.

Re: The Athletes sexual assault thread...You asked for it

Rumors of Izzo retiring and no way Dantonio escapes this...

Barstool Sports. Grain of salt where necessary.

Having said that, I think this is going to claim both of them before the dust settles.

I may be mis-interpreting what I see as a reaction in this state, but it *seems* as if more people are very upset about this than in Pennsylvania.

So when the programs get dismantled, it won't be because of the NCAA, it will be cause of alumni and members of this state.

Now that may be seen as some kind of "Michigan is better than Pennsylvania" kind of statement, but I don't see it that way. There was a VERY, VERY huge difference in the Nassar vs. Sandusky hearings. With Sandusky, none of the victims were given the stage so that 1) it made the victims very real vs. a concept, and 2) they could speak their mind in public. When you saw how the victims were able to basically reveal themselves in person, it's impossible to downplay it as not real. Especially how ALL of them had the same story. You just can't confront a person in person like that.

I don't know the details of the Sandusky hearings- as there must be real reasons that we never got to hear them face to face. But the bravery the victims are showing here are rather incredible.

And for that, you can hear the disgust of students and alumni about how in the world this happened. And the level of tolerance for any leeway has gone completely away. Likely to carry over to other schools in this state.

Izzo may escape but no way Dantonio doesn't go down. He lied about there being previous cases and he definitely knew and helped cover it up.

If Michigan State does get that kind of punishment then good on the fans for recognizing evil and punishing it.

There isn’t a single penn state alum alive who would admit the school did anything wrong or suggest anything that would resemble a punishment. They are all members of the cult.

Hell, there are State Penn fans on Twitter who have basically been cheering this on, because, "It's only fair." You're damn right it's fair, and fck you, you guys still aren't going to live Sandusky down for at least 50 years. Now go crawl back into your coal mine.

One thing is for sure though, there won't be a gratuitous HBO movie about this one.

We are getting news of the hearings and controversies on a daily basis here in Michigan. And while it's largely sourced to a smaller non-revenue sport- the fact that the president and AD are gone so quickly should point out that the students and alumni don't support them at all. One news story wanted to point out that the president's resignation letter was more about her than being angry with the situation. And the reply from most- good riddance, and too little too late (much like USA Gymnastics).

I really think that the women being so brave to stand up and proclaim that they are the victims- even saying which one they are- is making a HUGE impact on people.

Re: The Athletes sexual assault thread...You asked for it

The NCAA is going to can him and destroy MSU. Michigan State doesn't have the clout to survive this.

Pedo State has a precedent, though. MSU will give it all they have to match the Pedo rulings (and BS easing of penalties).

Re: The Athletes sexual assault thread...You asked for it

Dantonio leaving would set that program back 10 year. Izzo leaving would set it back 15 years. Combined, this will set MSU back 30.

Pedo State was different this covering up student athletes assaulting other students and coaches knowing. This Baylor not Pedo State...

Izzo wants to leave cause he covered it up too. I have zero doubt.

Izzo covered up. Just saying that if NC-double a-holes try to really nail Molestation State, MSU has a precedent to reference.

Nonsense. State Penn bounced back in 3-4 years, so would MSU with the right hires. It's not like they don't have the B1G money, and a turnover of most of the top administration would mitigate fears of being associated with this mess.

That said, Izzo and Dantonio are both done, IMO.
