The Alliance is Dead! Long live the Alliance! PC/Lowell 3/8 & 3/9

Re: The Alliance is Dead! Long live the Alliance! PC/Lowell 3/8 & 3/9

PC student here:

-The only "true" sell-out game this season was the 12/7 game against BC, which had 3,030 tickets sold. (Many students got shut out of that one.) This was the last game of the semester when students were on campus before construction started.

Construction began over winter break, putting a gigantic crater next to the side of the area that faces the softball field. Several fire exits and the non-main entrance are now giant holes/don't exist. Because of the reduced number of exits, the fire marshall lowered capacity from 3,030 to 2,089. (Which seems like a really, really arbitrary number. I guess 2,090 is too dangerous.) Students were informed that if they planned on actually getting into the games, they had better get to the rink early for a ticket.

Subsequently, all but the Merrimack and I think the Wednesday rescheduled UNH games have had signs out front saying the game is "sold out"--of the lowered capacity. They were not selling tickets at the door for the (March) BC game, for instance.

The capacity of the BC game in March was technically 2,089, but it seemed to me that the arena was basically full. There definitely were not 1,000 empty seats.

Per Twitter, the capacity will be restored to 3,030 if PC clinches home ice for HE playoffs. Why playoffs suddenly reduces the risk of a fire hazard I'm not sure of, but apparently they okayed it.

From the students perspective, I'm glad the school finally (accidentally) figured out a way to incentive students to show up for the games on time.

Should be an interesting weekend.

It looks like Saturday is sold out.

Re: The Alliance is Dead! Long live the Alliance! PC/Lowell 3/8 & 3/9

Depending on results Friday night, I might have three extras for Saturday.

You mean I might have 3 extras since your tickets are under my name at willcall. ;)

Tickets are still available on their site. I just bought 3

Mrs Jon and I ordered our tickets this morning. Good call on our end. I'd advise everyone to get to the game at least 20 minutes early. The parking situation is a nightmare.

I would say even earlier. Email I got says senior presentation is at 6:45

Lowell has a very good chance to finish this game second in HE attendance this year. Which, to me, is shocking.

That is great!!!

Besides the product on the ice, I wonder how much the NHL Lockout + the AHL team being removed from Lowell (yes I know a few years ago) has had on the attendance.

The marketing has also been great!!

#HockeyEast RT @MarkDivver: Myles Harvey will return tonight for @FriarsHockey (vs. UML) after missing 5 games w/ lower body injury.

I was at the December BC game (3030 attendance) . Piece of cake compared to UNH where you have issues just getting to your car

They've moved half the parking to a lot that's about a 10 minute walk to the Coffin, behind the student center. I'm assuming if that fills up, you park near the science center. These are areas I was only tangentially aware of when I went to PC. :)

(the library I was very familiar with. Almost... too familiar)

Nice job PC. Once again at the end of year series, you've found a way to totally shut us down. I think we helped quite a bit, mind you.

So it all comes down to tonight. Whomever wins tonight, wins the regular season title. If we tie, it gets messy, but PC will generally end up higher than UML.

Cya tonight.

If Lowell and PC tie, and no one else is even with them, Lowell wins the tiebreaker (more HE wins).
