Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Has anyone been able to get Maine in using the PW calculator, if they lose this weekend?

I tried but couldn't do it. Looks like they need the autobid. Priceless????

Yeah, good for willie.....great story his final year. w\o. Dimmen and beatup nyquist
Gotta give props to the coaches. Sure did not expect it. Give wilson boston start. He earned it

Wilson got us there so he should definitely start friday night. I didn't think he would get the job done this weekend. Wilson put on a show.

they need the autobid... the highest they can be ranked in the PWR is 14th, but to get them there it took three conference tournament upsets, leaving them the first team out...

Bemidji Losing crippled a lot of teams

It kills me to say this ;) but I think the turning point of the game last night was when Timmay made the adjustment on the PP and put Flynn and Nyquist on the point and they scored to tie it at 1. Of course it worked so well he didn't do it again. But good call! :D

I have a feeling that the only way to beat BU this weekend is to do things just like that.

Jack knows just what Timmy is going to throw at him, and Jack knows how to shut it down. If any of you saw BU take Nyqusit out of the weekend at the Agganis, you know what I am talking about.

I hope that Timmy can put together about 4 different systems so that when BU is ready to dissect the trap, maine forechecks, and when BU is ready for the forecheck, they have nobody on the far blue line, weak side and they get trapped.

can that be done from shift to shift?

Maine, BU, Michigan and the three ECAC teams except Cornell are autobid or nothing.

Lowell pounded the crap out of Nyquist, all 3 games, they hit him after the whistle, they slashed him, they rode him into the boards when he wasn't near the play, tripped him when he didn't have the puck, you name it, they did it.

No, the rationalization on your part means maybe you're the one that needs the butt whipping. You obviously aren't doing your part. Do you want him to have a life of almosts, yearly disappointments and constant ridicule??:p Send him back up here for an intervention and we'll indoctrinate him correctly;)

:D I can't wait for Friday. The first non-Maineless hockey east weekend in years. Much more fun this way.

At this point it feels right that they should have to earn their way there by winning Hockey East.

Absolutely all over him all weekend. The slash last night was frusteration, luckily it didn't cost em. BU will do more of the same. He did manage to dish out a few assists. Hopefully some others can step up and get to the net.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Big Willie comes through. He looked very confident and steady. Didn't move around too much. Just focused on stopping the puck and being in position. Can he do it again? The team had probably their best weekend of the year defensively. Need it to happen again for Willie to even have a chance.

Mangene was great on D. Was probably the best dman. Kid is a player and will be nice to have him around for a few more years.

Great ending to a slow, grind out exciting weekend of hockey.

Very observing, did you also happen to notice while on a 4 on 4 with a little less than 5-minutes left in regulation there was a face-off in the Lowell end. Just before the puck was dropped Tim gave Maine’s D a hand signal to switch positions sending Mangene from right to left d and O’Neill from left to right, off wings for both. The rest is history, the puck ended up in the net less than 10-seconds later. NEW GAME!!!!! Take a well-deserved bow Coach Whitehead. Let’s give credit where it’s due.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

I just watched my DVR of the 3rd and OT, lots of action, lots of great saves especially by Hutton. The winning shot by Tanner was a beauty, I didn't realize he lifted it like that, cool under pressure as that's all he had.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

I was at the game last night. The game winner was one to remember. I've been to lots of Maine games and this one was easily in the top 5. It has been a long time since I have heard the Alfond erupt like that for a goal.

There were quite a few empty seats in the Alfond. Anyone who decided Maine was done and chose not to attend missed a great game.

The team celebrated like they had one another national championship. They have put up with alot in the last week and earned the right to celebrate.

Looking forward to Friday night against BU in HD on NESN.

and to Jackie's credit, BU did not do any of that. they covered him, they knew where he would be, and how to cover him and made him a non factor.

I hope he is well this weekend
