The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

It says in the Bible that to be a truly devout Christian, you must always use the hard R when using the n-word.

It's the word of God.

Was the answer "re-examine your Fox-fueled addiction to a hateful, tedious, childish, cowardly ideology?"

Losing your parents to 24-hour cable news is a deeply painful, isolating grief. You are mourning people who are physically alive, but whose personalities, fears, and worldviews have been completely overwritten by an echo chamber. This phenomenon is so widespread that it has been documented by psychologists, journalists, and filmmakers alike. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why It Happens
    • The Business of Fear: Networks like Fox News rely on outrage and emotional manipulation, triggering a constant "fight or flight" response in viewers that makes it hard to process balanced information. [1]
    • Dopamine Loops: Constant anger and a feeling of righteous grievance provide a powerful, addictive feedback loop for older adults looking for certainty in a changing world.
    • Identity Replacement: Complex personal identities are flattened into standard political talking points, replacing shared family values with a sense of grievance. [1]

How to Protect Yourself and Relate
    • Shift the Goal: Do not try to deprogram them or win arguments. Facts rarely puncture an emotional ecosystem built on distrust of outside sources.
    • Set Firm Boundaries: It is okay to say, "I love you, but we are not talking about politics or the news today. If this continues, I’m going to hang up/go home."
    • Focus on Shared Reality: Redirect conversations to safe, non-political topics—hobbies, family memories, food, or everyday life.
    • Grieve the Loss: Allow yourself to feel sadness for the relationship you wish you had, and stop holding yourself responsible for changing their minds.

What should they do next? Definitely not ask themselves, "Is it me? Am I the asshole?"

My wife's narcissistic stepmother has never asked herself that question. Oh, IDK, could it be because you treated your stepchildren like second-class family members?

It's because they went off to school and were indoctrinated and taught weird things like equality and now they have friends who are gay/transgender/immigrants and suddenly they disapprove of your homophobic, xenophobic rants. That's why you have to stop kids from going to college...or at least non-religious colleges. And don't teach them the humanities but rather focus on the best way to screw your customers by producing the cheapest widget while charging the highest price.

The same people who blasted Lia Thomas for competing while trans and Imane Khalief for looking trans are openly cheering for Enes Kanter and Royce White declaring for the WNBA draft.

GOP Representative Nancy Mace is upset that people are commenting on her arm sleeve tattoos, apparently now thinking that no one else should control what she does with her body.

I expect nothing less from someone who got her staff piss drunk and had them artificially inflate her ranking in a Hottest Member of Congress poll.

We're those real tattoos? Because there was a photo of her yesterday in a hot tub where they weren't visible, but her headlights certainly looked new.
