The 2018 midterm elections!

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

JFC dude nobody claimed that he created CWD in a laboratory to unleash on the deer population of WI. We're saying that by not raising taxes for vital govt. functions like the DNR it's getting worse because every government agency has effectively been neutered by his administration. This isn't hard to understand.

Surprised it took so long for this simple but accurate explanation. Republicans in congress are not stealing the food off the table of some inner city kid in Cleveland. But their policies have certainly helped make it necessary for (and this is literally true) every single kid in the Cleveland Municipal School District to qualify for free school lunches.

Truth

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Definitely true. At this point they need to abandon the old guard of the party and embrace the new hotness.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

I don't like Bernie, but it's clear the Euro socialists will eventually win, and they're better than the current alternative, so why not roll with it?

There are other "Dem Socialists" out there and the Democrats need to embrace them and bring them in. They cant fore them to the fringe they need them front and center of the new True Left Democratic Party. The Dems are already being painted as Radical Socialists anyways because they believe in stuff like "The Right to Vote" and "Immigration is OK" so just own it instead of running from it. There are plenty of examples of younger candidates running on Progressive Agendas that are winning or at least overperforming so embrace it.

If 2 years from now Joe Biden or someone like him (including Bernie) is the standard bearer of the party the Dems are in all sorts of trouble.

While I agree with your last sentence, I'm not sure I get the point of the first paragraph. Who amongst the Dems is running away from a "Right to Vote" platform????

Don't run away from truly progressive ideas out of fear of being casted as an extremist. The other side will try to do that regardless.

They arent running away from it, I am saying they need to own they are Leftists and in some cases Socialists. If Centrist ideas are the new Radical Left according to the GOP then just admit you are radical left. Lean in to the insults and own them.

The problem Dems have had since at least the "Gengrich Revolution" is that they allowed "Liberal" and "Progressive" to be turned into put downs. They Dems hate being painted as anything. Just own it and it becomes much less a problem. The GOP doesnt give a crap what you call them, they just accept it and move on. They take pride in everything...even being stupid. If the Dems took the same tact with the way they are painted they wouldnt seem so weak willed and spineless half the time.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Its not that the GOP 'owns' their position. Its that they demonize the Dems and say 'how they're not the Dems'...and so making their position seemingly irrelevant.

Whether saying 'yeah, we're socialists' or becoming the party of Bernie, I wouldn't embrace the far left as us Dems. You get the right moderate leader to step up - an Obama that calls out the GOP on its crap - and the world will change overnight.

Re: The 2018 midterm elections!

Yeah it'll change and then in 4 - 8 years go right back the other way like it did after Clinton and Obama.

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/201...cruz-denounces-overheated-rhetoric-mail-bombs

On Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz joked that his opponent, Rep. Beto O'Rourke, could share a jail cell with Hillary Clinton and spoke darkly of Democratic mobs.

A day later, federal authorities said they'd found seven mail bombs sent to the former secretary of state and others, among them former President Barack Obama and his attorney general, Eric Holder, billionaire Democratic donor George Soros and CNN — a network that drew chants of "CNN sucks!" at Cruz's big rally with President Donald Trump on Monday night.

Stumping in Dallas on Wednesday, Cruz denounced overheated rhetoric and political violence of any kind — and lay the bulk of the blame on the left for poisoning the nation's civic discourse.

"Violence is wrong wherever it falls in the political spectrum. This is a deeply polarized and divided time. That division, that anger, is not good for our country, and it is my hope that everyone can just calm down a little bit," he said after a rally at Gilley's honky-tonk near downtown.

He rejected the idea that he or Trump shares responsibility for stirring passions.

Ooze is a turd. Even Texas Republican voters have acknowledged that (but they will most likely still vote for him).
