Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Do YOU want to play UND at (basically) their home?

I would. I've been thinking UND is softer than they appear for months. Outside of a series against doormat CC (where they only slipped by in the second game), they've lost their last 3 games. Its also in our backyard.

Unfortunately, we won't have this to think about any more.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Code:
[B]Fargo South Bend	Providence Manchester[/B]
North Dakota	Mankato Miami Boston U
Michigan Tech	Omaha Denver Duluth
St Cloud	Harvard Boston C Minnesota
Quinnipiac	RIT Providence Yale

4 vs 15
Attendance in South Bend will be horrid.
10 flights.

Outstanding bracket.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Providence certainly got the best deal. They play at home vs. the lowest #1 seed.
A little strange that second #2 gets #13, #3 gets #14, and #4 gets #15.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

I will be! Along with Mrs. Red Cows. Just made hotel reservations. Tickets, next.

Good, tell your friends because there will be lots of Domers selling tickets off. Just play hard ball and you might get some amazing deals

Are you listening Mankato fans this applies to you as well!

Jayson Moy isn't perfect anymore

Yeah and Yale gets BU, time to slay goliath (again).

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Confused about them not switching Harvard and MN.

Like I mentioned above, Priceless, it's total chalk except treat PC as it were a host.

I am wondering if they did this to subtly make it more obvious that a change is necessary going forward.

They might want to go to a 3-week model with the top-8 all hosting, in which case you could have rules like:
Still keep the teams in their seed bands.
No intraconference matchups.

National 1/4 finals play at 2 sites - one east, one west.

And you might get:
RIT @ MSUM
PC @ UND
Yale @ BU
QU @ Miami
BC @ DU
Minny @ UMD
SCSU @ MTU
Harvard @ Omaha

In other words, almost the same bracket, except now we are playing on campus.

Quarterfinals would be as the current bracket as well, with the west in Fargo (or St Paul, or wherever) and the east in Manchester (or wherever).

More on this later....

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

not sure why anyone should care about the # of flights. not like you're paying for it. if the NCAA doesn't care about # of flights, so be it.

the committee has used that as one of the biggest reasons in the past to screw with bracket integrity.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

I almost feel like they did the 1 vs. 4 matchups first, realized how badly they screwed the bracket integrity there, then refused to move any of the 2 vs. 3 matchups (besides the NCHC matchup) to make up for it.

You put the NorEast bracket in South Bend, I'd be there. Boston flights too expensive.

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

didn't they used to have the committee chairman on as part of the show?

Re: The 2015 Pairwise, Bracketology and History Thread

Harvard has no fans and Minnesota is flying either way is my guess.

We have fans and would have attended in force if we were playing in Providence or Manchester. Sending us to South Bend made no sense and killed attendance there. BC gets to stay home as does Providence (how do they get to play in their home state when they were on the bubble?).
