Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

BTW, Walrus, I fell asleep during the Maine / BC football game. I was hoping to see more BC passing to work on the air game but they chewed up the ground again with over 400 yards.

Last years Maine team would have given BC a game, this years has a first year qb who may be good in a few years but right now, Maine isn't going to compete with any one

BC would be throwing the ball just for the sake of throwing it. They have no one that can catch it.

Patriots... winning ugly better than losing. This D is making things happen. Patience all.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I'm glad some of the blame is getting spread around for once. I'm not watching film of the game but I have a hard time believing that LaFell and Amondola, who both caught a lot of passes from far worse QB's on other teams, suddenly forgot how to get open. Brady NEEDS to find these guys or the OC needs to draw up plays where they're the primary target. Never liked McDaniels as a half way decent pass rush shuts down his entire offense.

I also agree with that that Raiders D-lineman (Smith?) was saying, which is the Pats O-line was never that great to begin with and he used the Giants SB games as an example. That's spot on, and that's on Belichick to get the right players.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

I just feel the organization from the Jonathan Kraft to BB has shortchanged the team with their personnel decisions and reasons not to use their draft picks to select quality players and pay them. They always trade down or trade away their picks and when it's time to resign someone they rather let him go and pay someone less. Who among the WR that they drafted has come through or shown any talent in the last 2 years ? They just let Mankins go because he wouldn't re-structure his salary for the team. Are they sandbagging or is McDaniels just really bad calling the offense ? I think season ticket holders feel cheated for their money.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

The Pats looked great last night, Belichek is a genius :). Brady wasn't great last year and it appears this is his last season in New England. Once again the O line sucked but so did Brady. I thought the D was going to be much improved but sure didn't look that way last night. Browner should help as Ryan doesn't seem to be a full time CB. They could trade away draft picks and not pay free agents as long as Brady could carry the team, those days are over

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Watching the game last night, I couldn't help but paraphrase Mr Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High: "This is the worst football I've ever seen! What are you players - on dope?"

First off McDaniels needs to be fired. Not at the end of the year but now. If your line is shaky you design plays for a quick release by the QB, and take advantage of an overpursuing D by throwing a few screen passes. I saw little of that last night.

Next I don't know if the team has a QB coach but they need one immediately. Brady looks terrible. The next time he forces a pass to a double covered receiver while somebody else is wide open he needs to sit on the bench for the next series. Maybe that'll light a fire under him.

Lastly Belichick needs to man up and admit he screwed the pooch on the Mankins trade, and the team needs a personnel director to step in and tell him no when he tries to make some of these deals. Interchanging O-lineman at different positions during the game is about the stupidest football move I've ever seen. This should have been worked out in preseason. Belichick is starting to remind me of Jack Parker coachinng BU hockey over the last decade. What worked 15 years ago doesn't anymore, but he'll be ****ed before he changes his ways. Win NOW, not maybe 10 years from now.

This team has talent. Funny how when they finally get LaFell the ball he's making plays. Amondola couldn't have forgotten how to catch passes in the past year so I'm wondering if he's being used right. Tim Wright caught a bunch of passes on a terrible team last year. Wilfork, Mayo, Hightower, Jones, Revis, etc - that's a lot of talent. W T F is up with giving up all those yards? To me that's on the coaches.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Didn't see the whole game, but if Brady says he'll retire when he starts to suck, then it's time for him to retire. Play before halftime, receiver wide open in the right flat, no one near him, and he forces the ball downfield to Gronk on the left sideline, who's double-covered. Yeah, that's the smart play. He's got to stop forcing the ball to the guys he wants to, and take what the defense gives him. The old Brady used to do that. Tom Brady mega-star thinks he can do anything he wants to.

But he's not helped by an inept and ineffective offensive design. KC was carving the Pats D up all night with formations and blocking schemes, and backs who could hit those holes, but the Pat's offense doesn't fool anyone, and they can't make holes for the backs to hit. Everyone who's said it is right, this offensive coordinator has to go.

And the defense can't tackle for chit.

Listening to ESPN radio today driving around, nothing wrong with Brady, he is still great, its everyone around him that sucks. I just don't see it. It looks to me like he is lost out there, like he aged 10 years over the summer and "its" gone

It's been going the last few years. The decision-making, trying to force the ball in when it's not there, passes low, behind, or ahead of the receiver, not where they need to be. I just don't know if it's aging and his skills are atrophying, or whether now that he's been at the top so long, and he's rich and successful, married to a supermodel, he's putting the work in that's necessary to be successful. One of the articles I read about last night's game mentioned that his footwork was terrible. That's just basics. You don't lose that due to age.

I just don't know if he's hungry enough anymore.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Pats have a shot at third place tonight. Thank goodness for the Jests.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Any inside/local info on the Kenbrell release? That just puzzles me. It really does.

Puzzles you, me, and pretty much everyone else. Could be that the Pats just had too many quality receivers.

It just makes no sense. I mean, I would think they could get a last-round draft pick for him or something. Unless there's something well-hidden (work ethic, extra-curricular activities, etc)...I see no reason to out and out cut him. Move him to practice squad...that would have been an option....

Doubt that they could have gotten anything for him. He as undrafted and hadn't done much. Practice squad is an option if he clears waivers. The work ethic/extra-curricular stuff is possible, as he and Dobson were inactive last week (and four running backs were active). Used to be folks would say "I don't understand, but I trust Bill". Now folks are saying "What the fugg are they doing?"

And Kenbrell was inactive for whatever reason quite a few games last year, without fanfare, despite him doing ok.

or first. Have no idea what happened. Did Belichick give Brady reps with the scout team to pizz him off? Make him watch Michigan game films?
