There are several nice restaurants that serve steak up there - might give you the chance to finally pay up on your lost wager

If this is true http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g48023-d399435-Reviews-Pete_s_Steakhouse-Lake_Placid_New_York.html I think was is the word you're looking for. Any other steak places that you or anyone may know about, please share as I have to take the wife out Saturday night and steak is #1 on our list.
I am a reviewer for Trip Advisor, and sometimes I have been at a place (hotel or restaurant) and seen reviews that put the place in the toilet when my experience was just fine. My suggestion is when you get to Placid, go to the Mobil station across from the Arena, ask to talk to Jerry or Jay Strack. They will tell you the best places to dine. I know them both well. Jerry was the GMC dealer in Placid for years when I was a sales manager in Plattsburgh. Jay was the driver for the Lk Placid firematic team (as was Jerry), not sure if he still is or not.

I don't think he was referring to the negative reviews... Just the one that says "found out the place is closed for good." Puts a bit of a damper on the quality of service ;)

That's the quote I was refering to. Thanks for the advice Birdwatcher. If the Mobil is still open I'll stop in and get some advice. There's always the Mexican place in Saranac Lake (I hope). Haven't been up that way in a few years except for golf, and that's more about cold beer than food. Weather looks good for the trip up and back with a little snow on Saturday. Can't wait for the games to start.

I am sure the Mobil is still open. It was last Thursday anyway. Believe it or not, I do believe Casa-De-Sol is closed in Saranac Lake though. I read that somewhere. Sorry about Pete's. It was still open last fall when we we there.

Don't know if it's the same owners but they were REALLY helpful about 20 years ago when our van acted up on an ADK trip. They found us a used carb and got us going. Still thankful.

I have known Jerry for years, he is a great person.

I am assuming you are referring to the Casa Del Sol in Saranac Lake, alas, back on December, it too has joined the ranks of "has beens" :(

That's the one. We're staying at the Best Western too. Was looking forward to some Mexican sometime over the weekend. I'm not going to mention any other places I've been to up there for fear they may be closed too. Just play it by ear I guess. It's all about the hockey anyway.

Re: The 2013 Lake Placid Attendance Thread

When I called and asked about tickets in the section we sat in last year (along with honorary Zoo Crew member, Ryan Scott), I was saddened to hear that it was Norwich's section. The person I spoke to was glad to point me to the Oswego section. So we'll be in Section 16, ready to cheer (and jeer).

My car is washed, vacuumed, dusted, and I even did windows. The USCHO MINI-mobile is ready to roll!
