The Sox have signed position players Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzales, and shored up the bullpen with Bobby Jenks.

But the Yankees picked up Jordan Parraz on waivers, which will definitely put them over the top!

Good start for Youk.

Can't believe there's no chatter here yet!

Anyway, this has nothing to do with this year's Red Sox but it does mention the Red Sox and I think Red Sox fans will appreciate it.

Best ticket hearing ever.

Lester gets the opening day start for the Red Sox @ Texas. One of the few warm weather/cold weather games actually played in the warm weather city.

I believe the lack of success the Celtics had following the Green/Perkins trade is starting to destroy everyone else's expectations too. Yesterday, Felger and Mazz were discussing what would happen if Terry Francona gets fired this season. Wha!?!?

I'm worried about the Pats success if Belichick is fired and replaced with Mordecai the Dancing Yiddish Clown.

I say we hire Roboshark to replaced Claude Julien when the Bruins get bounced in the first round. Who is with me?

Dear Jon Lester,

I drafted you as the ace of my staff in three different leagues. Stop throwing gopher balls!

i guess it's a little too early to dismiss pap :D

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

We're doomed. The Sox are going to go 0-162 and Lester will have an 8.44 era. :( On the bright side, AGon will bat .500 and have 486 rbi's. ;)

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

In fairness to me, I didn't see Bard pitch today.

Despite purchasing MLB extra innings and watching dozens of games last season, I rarely saw Bard pitch last summer, either. But I've seen him throw a lot. Including this evening.

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

My belief is that every team should win their home opener, so yesterday did not bother me. Now, if they lose today.......

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

I hated Mike Napoli when he was with the Angels. Good to see I can now hate him in a completely different city! Yay!

So our weakness is still the back of the bullpen?

I'd say yes - though it'll be impossible to pass judgment for a few more games, and until we've seen Papelbon and Jenks.

I'm just not a Bard fan. His overall numbers are pretty good, but they're deceiving. He's like that power hitter who belts 3-run HRs when the team is already up 6-0, but reliably whiffs with the game on the line. Not good under pressure.
