I think you're smart enough to know that we're talking about the directness of fiscal policies. However, your point is taken, so here's how to fix that:

1-50k: current tax rate times .5
50-100k: current tax rate times .75
100-200k: no change
200-500k: current tax rate times 1.25
500k-1M: current tax rate times 1.5
1-5M: current tax rate times 1.75
5M+: current tax rate times 2

I would think an ivy league graduate would understand that "seldom" is a long way from "never". But, taking your point at face value, if your goal is to go after the 1% and not the small business folk, then you may want to re-think your policy choices, because who you're really hurting as a result of this is the small business owners, because they're the ones in those higher brackets. The 1% are all either stashing their earnings away pre-tax (retirement accounts and other benefits) or they're donating it to non-profit "charities" that they own, which are the vehicles behind the majority of their influence. Ever wonder how the NFL, which makes billions every year, is considered "non-profit"? They use the Hall of Fame as a temporary tax haven.

The NFL has dropped its non-profit status as of last month. It doesn't take anything away from your point, because it's quite true, but you just chose a bad example.

The 1% use small business owners as hostages, just like ADM uses family farms and the Mil-Ind complex uses the troops. You and I can work on other policies that disentangle them.

Bravo on the faux populist demagoguery of "I would think an Ivy..." BTW. That's at least the third time you've used it in a month. Wasn't it Santorum who said "we will never have the smart people on our side"? :p

The ivy quibble had nothing to do with populism, but rather the snobbishness associated thereof. Go off and give DC the secret handshake. :p

Have a source? A quick perusal on a search engine isn't showing anything. The closest it shows is "considering voluntarily dropping 501(c)(6)", but nothing further about it actually happening.

You only need to post one of them. Something tells me the govenrment will still fund the stadiums, and the announcers will still push gun control.

If there's a secret handshake and a network for us to get everything we want, nobody ever taught it to me. I want my unearned privilege, dammit! :mad:

The image you have of the Ivies hasn't been true since the 1970s. We've been slogging through the filth with the rest of the proles ever since.
