Tales from yesteryear - Hockey's Golden Years (or at least my college years)

Re: Tales from yesteryear - Hockey's Golden Years (or at least my college years)

33 wins is unreal, would that be a DIII record?
we played 37 that yr I think and platty more than that IIRC..edit 40 games didnt read that far into the thread yet.

Re: Tales from yesteryear - Hockey's Golden Years (or at least my college years)

That was before common core when student athletes could handle playing that many games.
Dont get me started on common core, the teacher of my 8yo already told me not to teach her certain math....

I live right by Jim Tyo who played at Oswego, he told me he had an alumni newsletter which had an article about bakdraft being in the FD

Re: Tales from yesteryear - Hockey's Golden Years (or at least my college years)

Riddle me this: How did Plattsburgh manage to score 25 goals against Fredonia in 1988 without scoring at least 7 goals in any one period? (Even in Common Core math this shouldn't be possible, and therefore the "goals in a single period" list can be assumed to be incomplete)

they played more than 1 game against Fredonia in 1988? 6 periods?

Scoring by periods
Fredonia State 0 0 0 - 0
Plattsburgh State 4 13 8 - 25

Kids today dont know how easy they have it!

Are you kidding?? Even the NCAA knows they can't handle the current schedule and need to cut it back more - to just 24 games

Ah, the exhilaration of emailing a bunch of people using one address...the appreciation I felt when people were kind enough to email me personally to tell me how stupid I was rather than send it to the whole LISTSERV...truly a magical time.

Norm where do you find this stuff?

Well, like a magician I don't like to give up my secrets, but I guess I will this time ;)

I was looking at this site and this site.
and found this page
I wanted to see if I could find a bigger picture of this
and came across this.

BTW, I think the Oswego one came first (based on the what IMO is clearly a Laker uniform) and since the internet was still in its gestation stage (Arpanet, BITNET, CHATDISC, etc) back then I am more baffled as how it quickly it got to Murrayfield, UK - both events were on Nov. 1977.

Heck BITNET didn't start until 1981!!
