Suspend Kyle Rau for as long as Jason Zucker is unable to play!

Re: Suspend Kyle Rau for as long as Jason Zucker is unable to play!

Can we get some details? I don't know who either of these people are.

The video is here - but I'm not sure why it is on the DIII forum.
as far as timing the hit was a little late, and looked VERY high to the head, that said Zucker passes or dumped the puck and seemed to watch it, he did not get ready or look for a hit, which is what you have to do after you pass the puck...FYI for those who dont know Zucker he is 1 of the top D1players and leads our/USA jr teams most of the time.......

Re: Suspend Kyle Rau for as long as Jason Zucker is unable to play!

Rau is last year's Mr. Hockey for the MSHSL Class 2A Champions Eden Prairie. He got the game winner in 2OT over the Hounds of Duluth East.

I think hockey is trying to get rid of the "finish your check" hits. Many will say that it serves no purpose as the purpose of the body check is to separate the player from the puck. If the player no longer has the puck, why hit him?

Chris Heisenberg (he's not uncertain, but grandpapa was) posted in a tweet today that he wonders if the "finish your check" hits are more responsible for the incidences of concussions than direct hits to the head. He opined that there was a lot less of finishing in the 50's and 60's.

Re: Suspend Kyle Rau for as long as Jason Zucker is unable to play!

Clear separation between the puck and Zucker and Rau was targeting and accelerating. Not a clean hit IMO.
