Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

So the Vikings got outmaneuvered by a team who takes advice from a homeless guy?

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Looks like Bridgewater to the Vikes to close out the night.

Great first day for Minnesota. They get a turnover machine and great pass rusher, and the mait accurate QB in the draft. They got TB by moving up 8 spots and sacrificing a 4th rounder, but added an early 5th rounder.

It sounds like they had been targeting Bridgewater. Paul Allen texted a few people about three picks before the Browns got Manziel and said they were going to move up to get Bridgewater.

I know the inner-Bills fan is talking, but Buffalo paid way too high for Watkins. Yes, I've been told about the next great players, but I've been burned before. (cough Aaron Maybin cough) Watkins could be Jerry Rice, but I just don't know. If I'm wrong, I'll be so happy if that's the case.

Not a good day for Cleveland Brown receivers. First Josh Gordon is facing a year-long suspension for marijuana usage, and Nate Burleson breaks his arm... again. Unlike last year, there was no pizza involved.

The question is: Is Johnny Football sober enough to realize he's screwed?

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

It's the Manziel curse! Browns sold their soul to the devil to get him! Now two of their WRs are gone! ;)

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

I can't help but laugh. Especially Burleson and his re-farkled arm.

It helps the cause that it's the BROWNS. If it was SF, or NY, or someone like that, people would shrug. Now....they might think about that. :D

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

The New England Patriots ensure their future status as the team with the hottest quarterback by drafting Jimmy Garoppolo. Yowza.

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

TV ratings for the first round of the draft were higher than the final round of The Masters and the Talladega 500.

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Michael Sam gets his shot in the 7th round with St. Louis.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Notre Dame now has the longest streak of at least one player drafted at 77 straight years. The Fighting Irish and Longhorns had entered this draft tied for the longest streaks.

These schools had one player drafted: Lindenwood, Pittsburg State, Bloomsburg (Penn.), McGill (Canada), Maine, Concordia (St. Paul), Northwest Missouri State, Saginaw Valley and Princeton.

It's odd to me that he was so close to beig Mr. Irrelevant.

Usually the standing SEC Denfensive POY is more likely to be that close to the first pick than the last.

But he haz teh gay!

(Edit: I think it's more to do with having to deal with all the media, rather than him being gay)

That would be my guess at it as well. You're going to have every anti-gay wacko out there protesting about it for at least his first season. Then, well, does Sam still stay on the team, get on the field and make the stat sheet?? He blows up and is a defensive star that is always in the mix for a pro bowl selection, you'll see the occasional wacko out there protesting, but they'll really lose a lot of steam. Frankly, if I was a fan of another team in the NFC West, I would be more afraid of some brain dead idiot fan of my team making a fool of himself and my fellow fans by coming up with some really homophobic sign or something to try to get into Sam's head.

Oh God, Fox News would have had a field day with that one.

From what I heard he has a hell of a motor and decent quickness, but it'll be an uphill battle for him to crack the squad. St. Louis is loaded with DBs already.
