SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

It's called rebracketing vs. as opposed to a fixed bracket tournament. Re bracketing is traditional in hockey. Fixed brackets are used in (ugh) basketball and tennis.

Enough pedantics for one morning :D

Morning? Sun set nearly an hour ago, man. ;)

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

They are still labelled the #15, but they take over the bracket position of the #2. In a rebracketing system, the #15, assuming the #16 lost to the #1, would then face the #1. That's what the SUNYAC does. Reseeding does not necessarily mean that they change the numbers, but it means that they take over the bracket position that would have belonged to the highest seed they have beaten.

But why doesn't the #2 seed take the bracket position that belongs to the #15 seed? :p

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

I just don't think it makes much difference. Everybody understood what I meant. Until Oxford or Webster define "reseed" and "rebracket" with regards to college sports tournaments we're all just going to have to keep having this discussion.

Sorry ,it was meant to be a joke ,not to be taken seriously , who in hell uses "Devil may care" to describe anything ?

Don't be a Defeatist :( - be an Optomist :)

March 5, AQ Day

Sorry! I called the Fredonia over Buffalo State upset, but I just don't know if the Blue Devils have enough to knock off the Lakers. Unless they have another Kevin Amborski that we haven't heard anything about... :D

This is actually interesting...This could be a carbon copy of 2007. Fredonia knocks off the Lakers at Oswego, comes to Plattsburgh for the SUNYAC finals and knocks off the Cardinals with some hot goaltender named Friesen who didn't start the year as the starter (Van Rentergem). By the way, that year Fredonia also knocked off Buffalo State in the 1st round of the SUNYAC playoffs in Buffalo. Hmmmm... scary!

... And Plattsburgh knocked off Geneseo in the Ira that year as well.

I'll take a carbon copy of that year any day of the week.

I bet. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Oswego would love to take the conference championship this year, especially if it means beating Plattsburgh, but Oswego's ticket to the dance is already punched. I won't be shocked if the Lake Show falls tomorrow night or next week and the SUNYAC sends two teams to the tournament.

I think (hope?) the Lakers and the coaching staff have not forgotten they had their flattest, and IMHO worst game last year in Lake Placid....I think that drives them to finish strong on home ice and drive hard all the way to St. Paul...but clearly I am biased in my pov...:D:D:D

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

I believe Manley and Redlick were scratches last week against Oswego, banged up the night before in Cortland. Any word what their status is for tomorrow?

They got beaten by a better team SNC had them perfectly defended, and Jones did the rest.

Definitely do not think that was their worst game of the year or that they were flat. I think they actually played a pretty decent game and just ran into a great defensive team and a terrific goalie. That game could have gone either way easily.

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

I cant remember a SUNYAC Semifinal Game with such impact on the Cards NCAA Fortunes . A loss tonight might just seal their fate and a win could add to so many aspects of their NCAA appeal even if they were to lose the final ,presumably at Oswego next weekend. While I enjoyed the Morrisville victory , I didnt come away with a feeling that The Cards have righted the ship against conference foes .

I assume Leis will be in nets , he will need to play solid the first 20 Minutes , a repeat of game one for the Cards is very unlikely , I see a 4-3 score either way tonight , I hope we can attack and not get sucked into shots that do nothing but add up . We need to get opportunities on the rush and and not get caught in odd man rushes going back as a result.

Clarke's Line needs to be more of a factor than the Morrisville game , I have no doubt it will.. Docking needs to continue his aggressive approach and we need to get physical with the Vit line early ...... IMHO

Re: SUNYAC Semifinal: Plattsburgh Cardinals @ Geneseo Blue Knights

Am I correct in assuming that if the Birds pluck away, melt the ice, and the Devils sink the Titanic and 20+ others to the bottom of Lake Ontario the final battle moves back to the shores of Lake Champlain?

Correct. However, the odds of that happening are not very high. It's possible, but not likely.

I-TAKE-THIS-BACK!

Believe!
