SUNYAC OFFSEASON 2014-2015 (News, Commitments, Etc.)

Re: SUNYAC OFFSEASON 2014-2015 (News, Commitments, Etc.)

My predictions:
1,2, or 3.....Geneseo, Oswego, or Plattsburgh.......
4,5,6, etc.......everybody else. Did I miss anything?

Re: SUNYAC OFFSEASON 2014-2015 (News, Commitments, Etc.)

How is Steve Johnson from Oswego not in your top ten defensemen? Furthermore I also feel like on the freshman front, Trent Durocher and Dave Ferreira are poised to break out for Oswego.
agree with Johnson being a top dman but he has to work on the D side of things.......I think Ferreira will be a Botten/neil type, and the BIG guy will hopefully be a good skater and play a roll

Callping Finney the top goalie of the SUNYAC when he isn't even guaranteed the starting job at Plattsburgh yet? Sure, he's a DI transfer... But so is Brady Rouleau (G, Quinnipiac). Sure, Emery said at the end of last season that the job was Finney's to lose, but that was before we knew who the competition was going to be :O

If Rouleau wins the starting job over Finney, who you say will be the best 'tender in the conference, does that mean he will be both the #1 goaltender and the #1 recruit on your list? ;)

Bottom line: one of these guys just transferred to go from a DI benchwarmer to a DIII benchwarmer... It just remains to be seen who that is.

I don't think either will be a benchwarmer, I think you will see a game split like we saw when Ryan Williams and Josh Leis were Freshman, the 2nd half one will take over and get a majority but not every start. Rouleau, while yes he was a D1 transfer, had zero game experience so his last game action was juniors so getting into game shape and ready to play may take a little bit. We saw the same thing with Finney who when he played his first game it was his first game in several months so he had to make some adjustments. But he has starting experience having been the starter at Cornell his Freshman year.

Plattsburgh 10-6 in the SUNYAC? Hardly...

Got to go with Russell on this one. I hardly think Platty goes 10-6. We don't know the goalie situation, but I tend to err on the side of giving them more wins than not. Emery is a proven winner.

I think you see Plattsburgh, Oswego, and Geneseo all go 2-2 against each other. Each will lose/tie against one other team. I wouldn't be surprised to see a three way tie or 1-3 separated by a point.

About the goalie situation, we can not judge Finney on a game or two when he was tossed into the game mid season. The defense surely didn't help him out on some of the occasions as he was getting use to them and they were getting use to him. Give it an off season.

Spencer had the 46th of 76 DI goalie GAA with 2.68 and 57 of 76 Save % with .904....

When BJ O'Brien came to SNC in 2008-2009 he had a .808 Save% and a 3.54GAA.
Andrew Hare came to Oswego in 2010-2011 from Niagara where he had a .897Save% and a 3.67GAA

If Finney can come close to those three DI/DIII transfers, Plattsburgh will be just fine. Add in the new DI transfer and the rumored two DI forwards, I don't think anyone wants to write off this team. Bob missed the SUNYAC Finals for the first time in, umm EVER ....a motivated and refocused Emery, good luck.

Re: SUNYAC OFFSEASON 2014-2015 (News, Commitments, Etc.)

We don't know what the freshmen and transfers will do. That's the great wild card in all of this.

Totally agree about the top 3 taking games from each other. The true test will be the upsets from the teams 4 and lower. That's where the title will be won/lost.

Hold on a minute! There just might be a third who could end up number one! Also, A.J. will be missed but me thinks me likes what I'm hearing about those newbies ! We shall see.

Re: SUNYAC OFFSEASON 2014-2015 (News, Commitments, Etc.)

Nice 2013-14 report on SUNY, including demographics - for example over 10% of Plattsburgh students are from out-of-state (5.9% international students) versus Oswego where only 3% are from out-of-state.

Clarkson has moved its radio broadcasts back to B99.3/1470 in Potsdam. That was Potsdam State's station, so where do the Bears go for broadcast rights?
