Powers needs to show league improvement or he's going to be on the hot seat if he's not already on it. IMO, there's zero excuse for them not to be a top three team in this league.

Normally I would agree with you on this, but........his salary is not paid by the university.
However, maybe there is a performance clause in the contract.

He's fine for the next few years. I still stand by my statment, they should be a top three team in this league. It's going to be an interesting 5 years for him.

ASU was top 3 two years ago, bottom of league last year. I hope they are top 3 but it is a mighty tough league.

Yes but ASU should never be in the bottom half of this league and shouldn't lose the amount of players to the transfer portal. Rumor has it Powers and his players last year didn't get along so the kids left. Not a good look. I hope they can figure it out.

They might not be in the bottom of the league once they get a share of NIL money. Unlike NoDak, Denver, Duluth and the other NCHC schools where hockey is king ASU currently devotes all NIL money to football and basketball. I don't agree with that, but to be fair, I could donate money to the hockey program via the Sun Angel Collective or the Sun Devil Club but haven't yet.

Concerning last years performance in particular you may be relying too much on rumors, rumors circulated by other hockey coaches in an attempt to keep new players from joining the team. The reality is the poor performance was a result of having a young, inexperienced roster, key season-ending injuries, and frequent third-period collapses which seems to be a stamina issue (young players and strength training).
