Stonehill to D-I Independent for 2022-23

Just stop reading Drew. He makes as much sense as wearing a turtleneck on a Florida beach.

it reminds me of those litany of realignment threads from 15 years ago and all the posters that thought they were doing Lowell a favor by kicking them out of hockey east. I'm tired of people thinking what's in our best interest. We know what's in our best interest and it ain't "you" (message board poster du jour). "We're helping you"... I never asked for your help... odd.

This was the genesis of the “KICK PROVICED OUT OF HOCKEY RAST” phrase wasn’t it?

If Hockey East does anything, it'll be add a 12th program. Why would anyone want to leave? UNH needs a hire their new AD so that he can hire a competent hockey coach. That will begin to fix the pile of waste that stinks in Durham.

The question on why would anyone want to leave would simply come down to administrators. It's not like college hockey is a big money maker. It makes sense for Kansas football to want to be in a power conference or struggling hoops schools like BC/Northwestern etc. If you're in a P5 league hang on to that golden ticket. I am not saying anyone should leave HE, just curious if there are administrators who have thought about it. Pretty sure Jim Connelly of USCHO had something on this last year in regard to the America East schools who play in Hockey East.

As search for a new Hockey East commissioner pushes forward, might the future of Hockey East be in peril? - College Hockey | USCHO.com

Even that report doesn’t say anything about membership changing, just a change in who runs HE.

Is it possible that running America East running HE leads to them kicking Merrimack or PROVICED out of HOCKEY RAST? I guess, maybe?

But from an Occam’s razor sort of perspective, isn’t it more likely that they’d just take over the administration to reduce costs, keep the rest of HE as affiliate members, and generally upset the apple cart as little as possible?

And what does all of that have to do with Stonehill?

This is no different than the idea of America East running a football league for its member schools (essentially splitting the CAA up) - which holds a lot more water than a hockey change in admin IMO.

And nothing - this has nothing to do w/ Stonehill. Maybe UNH and Maine will schedule a couple weekend with the to pad their own W totals.

Huh? Why would BC, UConn, UMass sign off on America East running the league? I don't think you interpreted it correctly. A HE restructure has nothing to do with Stonehill at the moment but it's all being discussed in this thread.
