According to a SLU fan on /r/collegehockey, "a lot of this has come due to one alumnus. He's still in deep with the program/university and was extremely against the Morris hire as a member of the alumni hiring board. A lot of these rumors started up with him, so now it's starting to look like it might have been an extreme case of sour grapes because the hiring board didn't take his advice. Apparently he's not as important as it seems."
