The game at Cheel has been sold out and its standing room only, does not guarantee you will be able to see the game.

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

The ECAC just announced that RPI's Jake Wood will be suspended for two games due to his hit from behind against Union from Saturday. He will miss RPI's game against Dartmouth this Saturday and the following week's Friday game against the Saints. Wood is a 3rd line winger who has 3 goals and 1 assist on the season.

Just wanted to share with you the play that moved Jake Wood up to #3 in the ECAC in penalty minutes. Our Captain needed stitches to close the gash in his head.

These games are always sold out ... Most know to get there early for standing room tickets, if they want to stand. Otherwise they are SOL (poop out of luck)! ;)

Yep. Planning on being inside cheel by 5pm to start the line or get in line.

Any others planning on being at the epicenter of the College Hockey world tomorrow?

You'll more than likely be joining the line at that time ;)

After last year at Cheel I vowed I would never go back there! They have some of the rudest most obnoxious fans I have ever met in my entire life and I would rather watch from the comforts of my living room to be completely honest :p

Eh. I don't have the opportunity to catch many games anymore now that I live in Florida. But since I'm still playing the "wait and heal" game since my surgery, I might as well.

And it's hard to say with the line. Obviously this game is more hyped than usual, but how many people will want to arrive 2 hours before gametime? I can't imagine it will be terribly long at that point if there is a line.

It won't be terribly long by then I would imagine ... I don't want to go back there again. I have gone there for years and we never win, just kinda sickening after awhile lol. Anywho, take it easy and heal quickly. Enjoy the game as well. Hope we play our best and can somehow come out of there with a win! :)

My unbeaten 2014-2015 attendence record is being put to the test again.

Was there for the NC Halloween series, the home Cornell win, and last weekend. Hope they can add another Cheel win to that!

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

It looks like Union did us a favor and knocked off Harvard tonight and Cornell just won it overtime against Colgate. So all in all a favorable off night for us standings wise. A win tomorrow night would be simply amazing, especially considering it is a VERY big game!

That certainly would be nice! I typically am bad luck. Every time I go they lose, so I guess it's a good thing you will be there and I won't be! ;)

You should have been at Walker Arena in the 70's when you did get in line 2 hours before the game and you had to stand in line outside in freezing weather. Those were the days.;)

Back I guess 8 years ago or so, I got to Cheel around 4-430 because it was supposed to be packed. Started the line. However, SLU had turned in extra tickets from their allotment and the ticket office called me up asking how many I needed. That was nice, got 3rd row from the ice in the visitors section.

Also, Dartmouth beating RPI is positive, as they're further back as well. Yale winning doesn't really matter, so long as we take care of our business, as we hold the tiebreaker.

Just play a smart, efficient road game tomorrow night. I'd like to atleast tie, but I have no expectations for this game.

This still happens at Appleton Arena. They line up outside typically an hour to an hour and a half before the game and it is outdoors, but nothing like it used to be. I remember an SLU/Clarkson game back in 1996 where we hadn't beaten Clarkson in something like 4-5 years and we were all chomping at the bit to break the streak (Well, I was young, my parents were more so at that time ;) ) ... Anywho, I remember showing up to the arena at like 1:30-2:00ish and there was already a line forming. It was a very eager, very early arriving crowd and they were treated to a great game. SLU won it 3-2 with Burke Murphy scoring the goal on a two on one rush with just over a minute to go in the 3rd. It's one of the games that I'll always remember as a child growing up watching SLU hockey ... Ahhhh, those were the days! :)

This is true ... I keep going back and forth on whether it would be better for us to have Yale beat the Q tomorrow night. A Yale win would put them closer to us and they are the 5th slot at the moment (just outside of the ice round bye slot) and also keep us close to Quinnipiac for 1st in the ECAC. However, a Yale loss would keep them further away from us, which is always good when battling for home ice and a first round bye ... Either way, we need to take care of our business and the rest will fall into place. We won't win every game down the stretch, but as long as we win the majority of those, I like out chances to get the bye. Keep fighting hard Saints, you got this!

Yes, there was a lot of competition for each of the 17 seats. :-)

No, that's easy. I want Q to lose every game and if they could get negative points I'd be in favor of that.

I was a junior at SLU that season and was at that game. Appleton was packed and I was standing watching the game three rows deep around the rails. The other person on that 2-1 with Burke Murphy was Paul DiFrancesco who fed Murphy a perfect pass to score. The roof in Appleton almost blew off the place. That ranks as the loudest I can ever remember being in Appleton after that goal.

People were not only starving for a win against Clarkson, but that was actually our only winning season in my four years at St. Lawrence. That was a real solid team that almost made the NCAA's that year. Unfortunately the Saints drew Harvard in the first round and that team was just getting all their injured players back. The Saints lost in three games. If they had won the series they were off to Lake Placid and would have secured a NCAA bid as well. Oh well.

Speaking of the Cesco Kid, here is an interview with him a few years back when he was up for a SLU/Clarkson Alumni game and talks about the rivalry:

It was a great game and yes it was VERY loud in there! If we continue to lose to them at Appleton we might be in for a breakout moment like that once again? It's doubtful, but would be nice! :)
