St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyond?

Re: St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyon

Spaceman or anyone else on here who might ... Does anyone have any older videos of Saints hockey games? Would love to see some of the older more memorable moments in Saints hockey history! I've been to quite a few memorable moments in my years of following, but some of the older games like the late 80's and early 90's it would be a dream to ever see some of the games...Wish I wasn't just a young boy at that time in life! One of my very first hockey games ever attended was the SLU/Clarkson game at Appleton in 1996 that a few of you previously have mentioned, where SLU won 3-2 in the last minute of the game. I will always remember that game, not only for the unbelievable crowd reaction when they scored in the last minute, but also as the moment that sparked my passion for SLU hockey and as I have grown up in life, so has this passion for the hockey and the Saints.

With Bobrovsky being out 4-5 weeks for the Blue Jackets, SLU alum Mike McKenna has been recalled to the big club. Hopefully he gets some good chances to play well. He was also just named AHL goalie of the month for November.

Saints#1, old film is so much fun to watch and learn from. I remember sometime in the early 200o's I located and watched the 1988 NCAA semi finals and championship games. This weekend I'll take a look to see if I still have them. Muskieman still might have those games, those in the early '90's and or those in the early 2000's as well.

On another note, I see the US named their US World Junior Roster. How they passed on Gavin Bayreuther is a real disappointment and mystery to me!

Here are the players and stats they picked and I included Gavin for comparison purposes:

I actually have the 1988 NCAA Championship game. When it became available for purchase on that NCAA on demand site, I snatched it up right away. The semi-final against Minnesota I would love to see, definitely let me know what you find. Same with any games, I would to see anything from those days, I've always been intrigued.

I typically don't post from our neighbors up Route 11's blog, but in this case, the three interviews with Coach Jones and two Clarkson players (Alex Boak and Will Frederick) are something that gives a good take from the opposing end of things. I expect two fantastic games, either way ... May the best team win!

Re: St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyon

One more day to go and we start our rivalry weekend ... Anyone else as excited as I am? Normally I'm less vocal on rivalry week, just because I have been through this every year for years. However, this year in particular, these games seem to have a lot of importance. Both ECAC standings wise, with 4 big points on the line, but also just for the strong test that it gives the guys at this point in the season. It really has been a while since both teams together have been this strong. Not only that, but I am sick of losing to Clarkson. We owe them big time and no better time then this weekend ... Let's Go Saints!!!

Yes. Looking forward to the games this weekend! I think the Saints will come out flying and firing on all cylinders.

This is the one weekend where I can't root for you guys. 2 good games and nobody gets hurt or suspended.

Oh, its may the better team win, not best.

Does "lgt" mean "Let's Get Trounced"? ;) :p

I hope it's "lose gonads tonight"

or

"Lose Graciously Twice"

or

"Lack Goaltending Tonight"/"Lack Goal-Scoring Tonight"

"Lotsa Greg (Carey) Tonight"

I really hope we don't have Carey dressing in a suit tomorrow instead of hockey equipment, but if the league catches sight of the end of the game, that's likely where he'll be. Ugly.

Well, Brandon, it goes both ways. Lewis should also get a DQ for pummeling GC which his stick and blocker right before that and Carey was trying to break free from the scrum. Chip MacDonalds is Paul Stewart's nephew...a suspension would mean that little Chip can't make the right call which is pretty fricken obvious after watching that game or any games he has reffed in the last 5 years. I'm convinced one of the reasons we don't have good success in the North Country is because the refs that get NC games are the worst in the league. I'd love to see that tape because I saw quite a few liberties being taken on the best player in the country.

We'll see. In 1988 we had to play Clarkson with 5 of our best players suspended for a bench clearing brawl at Dartmouth. We lit them up. We need to be more disciplined but that crap at the end of the game is the direct result of the refs letting the Clarkson second goal count after their player drove into him and then hacked at Wenny until it went in the net.

So glad the Clarkson announcers called us bush league. They would know what it looks like since they probably look in the mirror every now and then.
