Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Who is moving up to take Kyle''s spot? Anyone around Appleton have any news or will Coach try different players? He's probably working hard on this all week----

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Wish, I could make it to the games this weekend, but sometimes work does get in the way.

Keep up the hard work guys and good things will happen.

With Kyle being out and the tough road trip with two teams with alot to play for you would have alot to be pessimistic about. Like you, I am keeping optimistic that things will go our way this weekend. Battle hard out there Saints!!!

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Congrats to Girls on huge road win @ Qpac.
Also give 'gate lots of credit for taking hated Eli to the brink.
And Tigers for knotting up the Green.
RPI will be a huge challenge tomorrow night.
Go Saints!!!

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Well that wasn't the answer we were looking for. A wipe out where we gave up almost 50 SOG. So much for the troops rallying without their captain.
I'm hoping that there is an odd chance that RPI might take the foot off the gas pedal mentally tomorrow night as they have clinched second place. Who knows?
We have to play a lot better and get some help to get that last first round bye. I don't care if you put Martin Brodeur in net...when you get out shot 46-20 you are not going to win many of those games. Credit to Union....they came out flying and played well.

You could really tell they were missing Flanagan tonight. In this case it's more than just numbers, he was a leader vocally as well. Tough result, but there is always tomorrow night. We don't win tomorrow night we play next weekend. If we win then out of Yale/Union/Dartmouth we would need two of them to lose. Yale has a hot Cornell team and Dartmouth has Quinnipiac so this is a distinct possibility. I am expecting beating RPI to be the toughest of the above mentioned. They are hot and at home and it's senior night and well ... Things don't look right now!!!

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

On another note, we can finish no lower than 6th place, which is where we currently stand. This would set up a series with Colgate or Harvard next weekend at Appleton Arena and (more than likely) without Kyle Flanagan.

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Ouch. Not what I was hoping for or expecting. I thought SLU would be really fired up last night to win one for Flanagan and make sure he gets to play another game. I knew it would be difficult but I really thought SLU would win, and I sure didn't think Union would mop the ice with us. Winning tonight will be much tougher still - to say nothing of going into the playoffs shorthanded, with a less-than-stellar home record even with Flanagan on the ice.

Oh well, all you can do is go out and win the next one, right? If Harvard can beat Quinnipiac . . .

Great win for the women!

Tim, I echo your comments. Let's hope for a better result tonight. Edit - I just noticed this was my 2,909th post. It should be my 3,008th.:(

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

Was just mentioning it to Tim, but it deserves to be said here as well. While a bye would be spectacular, and certainly all but make sure Kyle gets to play a couple more games, we are currently pretty much where the majority of us figured we would be at the start of ECAC play: middle of the pack.

Hopefully the guys come out blazing tonight and leave it all on the ice with their best effort. If that isn't enough, then tip our caps and take care of business next weekend against Colgate or Harvard.

I picked us in the ECAC Standings contest to finish 4th. My initial thoughts were somewhere between 4th and 6th. That's actually where we are going to end up finishing, so we at the very least met expectations. Not bad, but a bye would be nice for several reasons: Kyle will be guaranteed to play another two games in front of the Appleton fans, one less tough/physically demanding playoff series, and REST!!! Plus, the records speak heavily in favor of those that have received byes in the first round in the past. I am interested to see how it all shakes out by the end of tonight ... Let's Go Saints!!!!!!

Re: St Lawrence Hockey

We get Colgate.

Big congrats to Hughes for hitting the century mark. Hell of a career.

That's about the only plus to an otherwise miserable hockey weekend. Congrats to George on a tremendous stint as a Saint. Hopefully we can turn it around next weekend.

And in some pretty lofty company to boot.

Not the way we wanted to end the regular season on a three game losing streak. I doubt Flanny will be well enough to play next weekend so it will be no easy task handling Colgate. The coaching staff will have to re-group and get these guys turned around.

I noticed that Carey is now tied for the scoring lead with Walter of Nebraska Omaha with 48 points a piece. The stat that jumps out at me in comparing the two is Greg has 12 PP goals and 5 Game Winners. Flanny is still only 6 points away from them having played three less games.

Here's hoping the coaches and boys can pull it together and turn it around for next weekend.
