SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

I also thought it sounded like SNC had a ton of support in Eau Claire while listening to the game.

As for the student section at home games, whatever. To my knowledge attending sporting events at SNC has never been a huge part of students' social calendars. Besides, SNC still usually draws over 1,000 fans per home game, a number most D3 teams would love to have. As a player, I'd rather have a core group of knowledgeable fans who stick with the team through thick and thin attending home games as opposed to a bunch of drunk frat boys.

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

To be honest, I'm not frustrated. We are a Division III school in an NFL city that also has a Division I basketball program. Once the Packers are finished, I think our coverage is very good. Almost all, if not all, of the men's hockey home games are covered. When I worked in Marquette, The Mining Journal didn't staff a couple of NMU games a year. If you go to Division III schools in the Twin Cities or in the Chicago area, those programs rarely get a mention. The only programs here that I think get the short-shrift is basketball, but it has gotten a lot better in the last couple of years.

I'm guessing you won't see much coverage/preview of the men's game until at least Thursday. No point in going to practice M-T-W to preview a game when Coghlin et al wouldn't know who they are playing yet.

Awesome--as I have previously said, you are truly an asset, -Tim Bald's tireless energy, love Tim Derozier on the radio (and his assistant who I apologize to because for the life of me I cannot remember your name) and all others associated with making the athletic events truly enjoyable.

Oh, I knew the Godfather reference right away--it was a weak shot at humor on my part, but I took that shot anyway.

Luca would have been a good asset to have in the NCHA in the late 90s.

Well let's not go that far. If SNC had changed completely to the "eastern" style of play, it would look like a no hit league.:p:D

No home Gambler or GB games tonight. Hope for a strong fan turnout.
Student count will be down, as spring break started this week at SNC.

I was told by the SNC ticket office that the game is close to a sell out. I hope that this information is accurate.

"Thank you" to Coach Coghlin, his staff and all of the players - especially the seniors - for another great season and another Peters Cup. Your efforts are appreciated.

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

Just from watching the last period of the game tonight, I have to say St. Norbert is a very very good team. UWEC has seemed to have SNC's number all year long, and unfortunately it didn't look like tonight was going to be Norbert's night. What did disappoint me though, was bit of sportsmanship. After UWEC scored their empty net goal, one of the SNC players broke his stick in half on the goal post out of fury. I understand broken sticks happen in a game, but when it's done on purpose I can't help but be concerned about the safety issue (ever get a splinter in your face?) as well as just the poor sportsmanship. I saw four different teams today see their hopes of a national championship this year fade away, and none of them had such poor manners.

Overall, SNC has a lot to be proud of this year and still have a lot of great talent on their squad to make another run next year. I'm excited to see how Adrian and SNC match up against each other being in the same conference.
