SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

Boy were Knights a different team last night compared to 1st game. Much better movement and puck control. I got to say I thought Pointers didn`t play as well eithe. Justin F really needs to control his kneee jerk reactions, his game misconduct was preventable. Now you loose a player for a game, have to show more maturity and self control in the future.

Completely disagree with the Favreau comment. You cannot let Point or anyone else run your goalie like the Point player did. He reacted as a hockey player should in defending his goalie. Point is more talented this year, but very much the same in their lack of discipline and goon squad tactics.

I was reffering more to when the refs were taking both players to the box Justin trys to butt end the Point player, refs are right there and it can only make things worse. Not a biggie just an observation.

Point didn't even touch the goalie on that play. Also, while Point still takes penalties, the weekend ended with Norberts taking 17 penalties for 48 minutes and Point taking 22 for 58 minutes. Last year, they would have had 20 to 30 more minutes more than Norberts if the series was a chippy as it was last weekend. There is a new coach, it takes time to make an impact. Give them more time before calling them a goon squad already.

Good observation and agree as I did not see the butt end.

I thought that I did say that Point is improved and hopefully they continue in this direction as they will never go far with their past cheap play that did surface again during the game. Hopefully the new coach can get them in the correct direction as the last coach seemed to lose complete control.

Just wondering with SNC going with a different format for the broadcasts of their games, I see that you can not archive the broadcasts this year. It sure was nice in case you missed something from a prior game.

I am going to miss the archive feature from the past system as well.

WACY has dropped Friday's game from the television broadcast schedule because the crew will be producing a high school football playoff game for WGBA instead.

And added one of the games with UW-Superior in January.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

I hope that Jacobson gets a start in net Saturday night. Bosch has not looked good in the last two games. 20 SOG tonight and at least 15 of those resulted in fat rebounds. While none of them ended up in the back of the net eventually it gonna happen. Right now he's playing like Bashor during the 08-09 season and we all know how that turned out. While there is still a lot of time to get the goalie situation figured out, there isn't really all that much time.
That's one of the lesser problems right now in Green Knight Nation. This roster has plenty of talent, but they just aren't clicking right now. There was less than a hand full of times that they got their offense set up. Getting the puck cleanly through the neutral zone has been a real problem.
While the blue liners are playing classic SNC D, they are having real problems getting the puck settled down to head up the ice.
The two good things about this team is they are young and will improve, and mediocrity isn't in SNC's vocabulary so Cogs and Co. will get solve the puzzle by the end.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

I also would like to see Jacobson get a shot before we start conference action with River next weekend.

Re: SNC 2011-12 Regular Season Thread

How did Jacobson look on Saturday? I thought Bosch looked pretty good overall in the Saturday game against Point. Friday against Gustavus I'm sure he'd say he's had cleaner efforts although neither goal was his fault.

What bugged me against Gustavus on Friday were some of the lulls. They came out sleepwalking in the first 5 minutes and they weren't controlling much of the play for a decent chunk of the 3rd and OT. They were losing a bunch of puck battles and were having trouble making clean passes in all 3 zones. They lost some very skilled defensman and especially with McDonald dinged up they are relying on an in experienced bunch. They need to get McDonald back and it still will be a work in progress for a while. They probably dressed their best healthy six on Friday and it consisted of no seniors, two juniors who played very little last year (one primarily because of injury), one sophomore, and 3 freshman. I'm pretty happy with the overall skill at forward. I'll be interested see how they will shuffle things when Perry comes back. The depth is there. The guys they played on the 4th line played very well Friday and have been overall. It isn't often you see the 4th line get 3 shifts in the last couple of minutes of a tie game but they'd earned it.

I thought Jacobson looked good in his first start. Came up with several big saves when the game was still tight.
As you mentioned, with this young group, it will take time for them to get familiar with each other.
Hopefully, we get Perry and McDonald back soon.....

Re: Most likely my last post ever on this DIII board. Enjoy.

Better team performance from SNC last night.
Jacobson looked pretty solid in net and I would expect that he will get the start again tonight.
Timely scoring from Soley and Keefer.
The third period scrum, in front of the SNC goal, resulted in a total of 10 guys each getting four minute roughing calls.
Heard that the players said that it was getting a bit steamy in the boxes, with that many players crammed into them.
Most guys I have ever seen in the box at one time.
