SLU @ RPI, Saturday Night's Alright!

Re: SLU @ RPI, Saturday Night's Alright!

At the end of the year-we may look back on this one as a big turning point. After losing an important game last night-we come out and fall behind immediately-but come back and win this one. Let's hope this leads to a big momentum boost.

Re: SLU @ RPI, Saturday Night's Alright!

Someone has to teach Murphy not only how to ref, but how to use a walkie-talkie. During the RPI reversal, they had to run over to the corner to get in touch with the review judge because they couldn't figure out how to use the walkie-talkie they have to talk to the video replay judge.

When did we get a replay judge? Is he there for all games? Did this start with the new score board?

We had used the system during the Junior National team game with Beauregard's crossbar. I think RHam mentioned that there wasn't necessarily a replay judge sitting with at least him, but it would make the most sense to me that the ECAC would provide a judge for video review, and they would either be with the RPI-TV director and producer in the control room, or with a monitor in an isolated location with contact to the director in order to see the play happen again.

There definitely has to be some sort of judge, because the call was reversed on RPI's 2nd goal.

The call wasn't reversed until the official left the ice and talked to the goal judge by sec 13, who gave a lengthy explanation complete with hand gestures demonstrating what happened. After conferring, he skated back out and signaled goal.

That makes sense. I wasn't sure who the walkie-talkies went to, I just assumed they were "upstairs" with review capabilities from RPI-TV.

The conversation was covered very well on b2 networks. It wasn't until the goal judge brought someone else into the conversation that the referee reversed his decision. I don't know who that third party was, or if he was relaying the replay information. But it certainly looked like he was the deciding factor.
