Should the NCAA Championship be best of 3

I dislike single elimination playoff formats for hockey. I'd love to see the FF be a round robin tourney. And use campus sites for best of 3 series to get to that point.

The excitement in NCAA tournament play is knowing anybody can beat anyone on any given day. Can't have a 'different rule' for the final round than all the other rounds to be fair, so if it goes to a best of 3, the NCAA field would have to shrink (say to 8) and that creates less interest. NCAA basketball tournament is one of the most popular events around because of the large field and even causal fans rooting for the underdog to knock off a top seed. I am sure Duke, Kentucky, etc., on men's basketball would love to see a best of x format since they would nearly always win; one bad games does not sink them. But the excitement for the NCAA tournament IS that one bad game will sink you. I like the women's NCAA hockey format as is as a result. If we really want to see the best two 'on paper' play more, lets have just Wisconsin and Ohio State play a best of 7 and be done with it. Maybe that is how the B1G tournament should be set up?

I disagree - Similar to other posts, I like the chance that my underdog team can win it all - and I suppose conversly, my powerhouse team could lose any given game, and I'd have an excuse :) This tournament style provides a "There's always hope" attitude that I like. Yes, the two best teams might not make it to the championship every year, but rarely is there not a great game at the end! - Also I really like previous comments about as many teams in as possible - it really helps the teams through the regular season knowing they've got something to play for even if they are a middle of the road team in their conference - or if they can somehow win their conf. ship - they'll get a chance in the NCAA Tourney!
