No and no. I didn't think the hit was a penalty. Novak stopped, the UAA player behind him ran into him and novak was in a prone position and went headfirst into the boards. Not a very hard collision either.

Upon further review, it looked like novak's head got smashed between the boards and the UAA players leg.

No. First hit was 5 min. major to Bailey. 2:18 left in that penalty. Novak was hit right at the end of the period. Don Lyons is beside himself--Novak was on the ice for a long time. --Thank you, UAA Seawolves Fan for the updates.

No penalty was called (yet) on the Novak hit. Lyons said it looked like he was hit from behind, but may have "turned into the hit." Whatever that means.

No, SCSU had already been awarded a major, and WCHA officials don't have the balls to call boarding when the team already has a major penalty called, so nothing was called.

It wasn't a major, but it was either checking from behind or boarding. All he could see was the back of his jersey.

EDIT: I take it back, somebody did grow balls.

Wow, they actually decided to give another major penalty for the hit on Novak.

So a 5x3 for 2:18?
If they don't get one here, Yikes.

UAA had a golden chance to tie it in the final seconds, but Dunn made one heckuva save to preserve the win for SCSU.

SCSU wins 4-3. We still suck something fierce, but there's enough there to keep me interested and watching. I feel like Al Pacino... they keep dragging me back in.
